The Fast & Furious film run is expected to conclude with Fast Forever, scheduled for theaters on March 17, 2028. The wider franchise is not ending: Peacock has announced a scripted series, which Variety reported was greenlit with a 2028 premiere target. The movie has a specific release date; the series does not.
Is Fast & Furious ending after the last movie?
The planned film finale is Fast Forever, which Peacock identifies as the franchise’s twelfth film and says will reach theaters on March 17, 2028. That is an end point for the current film run, not an announcement that Universal is retiring the entire franchise. Peacock has said new stories will move into episodic television.
The distinction matters: the series is a separate continuation of the franchise universe, not a replacement movie or evidence that every planned project is ending. Peacock’s May 11, 2026 announcement paired its TV plans with the film’s scheduled date.
Will there be a Fast & Furious TV show?
Yes. Peacock announced an original series in May 2026. On October 2, Variety reported that Peacock had greenlit the scripted series, moving it beyond the initial announcement. Universal Television, part of Universal Studio Group, is producing it, and Peacock is the announced platform.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Mike Daniels and Wolfe Coleman are co-showrunners, writers of the pilot and executive producers. Vin Diesel is among the executive producers, alongside Sam Vincent of One Race Films, Neal Moritz and Pavun Shetty of Original Film, Jeff Kirschenbaum and Chris Morgan, according to Peacock’s announcement and Variety’s October report.
When will the movie and TV series arrive?
| Project | Format and platform | Timing |
|---|---|---|
| Fast Forever | Theatrical film | Scheduled for March 17, 2028; Peacock calls it the twelfth film. |
| Untitled Fast & Furious series | Scripted television series for Peacock | Variety reported a 2028 premiere target on October 2, 2026; no exact date was given. |
Both projects are associated with 2028, but their schedules are not equally definite. Peacock’s May announcement said the series had no premiere date set; the later report gave only a target year. A target is not a confirmed launch date, and the series should not be described as already available to stream.

What is known—and still unconfirmed—about the series?
The announced creative leadership, studio and platform are known. The announcements do not establish the show’s plot, episode count, filming schedule, which characters it will follow, or whether actors from the films will reprise their roles. No series cast has been confirmed in the cited reports, so familiar characters and performers should not be treated as attached.
There has also been discussion of more than one possible television project. In May, Diesel spoke of four shows from the franchise universe, but TheWrap reported that NBC clarified only one was officially in development at that time. Variety’s October update describes one Peacock scripted series as greenlit; the other possibilities should not be presented as ordered shows. TheWrap’s October 1 report covers that clarification.

What the transition means for the franchise
The clearest reading is a planned close to the theatrical run alongside a new episodic chapter on Peacock. For now, the movie has a stated theatrical date, while the series has a reported target year and no disclosed story or cast. Peacock’s May announcement quoted Diesel saying, “For the last decade, we have realized that the fans have wanted more”; that is his explanation for the expansion, not a quantified measure of audience demand.
