A new Ape Escape game is the subject of an insider-led rumor, not an official PlayStation announcement. Gaming outlets report that NateTheHate2 said the series may return and that Team Asobi is not developing the project. No studio, platform, format, or release window has been identified.
What is the Ape Escape game rumor?
Press Start and Push Square report that insider NateTheHate2 corroborated claims of an Ape Escape return. Push Square describes the remarks as a response on ResetEra. These are claims relayed by news outlets, not confirmation from Sony or PlayStation. Press Start and Push Square both cover the rumor.
What has been said about who is making it?
Team Asobi is reportedly not involved
According to the insider as reported by Press Start, Push Square, and Gameranx, Team Asobi is not working on the rumored game. That is an insider-reported detail, not a Sony-confirmed development credit. Gameranx also reports the Team Asobi exclusion.
The Bandai Namco detail remains uncertain
Push Square says NateTheHate2 ruled out Bandai Namco outsourcing “to his knowledge.” Gameranx reports that he would double-check that point, so it should not be treated as a firm identification of who is—or is not—developing the game.

What is still unknown?
The cited coverage does not name a developer or say which platforms the game would support. It provides no release window and does not establish whether the project would be a new sequel, remake, remaster, or another kind of release. Gameranx and Playnews likewise note the lack of confirmed platform and timing details; Playnews says no public confirmation, developer, platform, or release window had been identified in its October 3, 2026 report.
Does Astro Bot confirm a new Ape Escape?
No. Press Start points to Astro Bot as a recent franchise connection: it features an Ape Escape-themed level in which the player becomes Spike and captures apes. That cameo is a way to encounter the series in another game, not evidence that a separate Ape Escape release has been announced. Press Start’s report describes the level.
