Oaks vs Orcs now has a free demo on Steam. Released October 1, 2026, it offers a first look at Chaos Theory Games’ roguelike strategy autobattler; the full game is planned for 2027, with no specific release date announced.
How to play the free demo
The demo is listed as free on Steam and has a release date of October 1, 2026. The full game has a separate Steam page, which says it is not yet available and offers a wishlist option.
What kind of game is Oaks vs Orcs?
Chaos Theory Games describes Oaks vs Orcs as “a roguelike strategy autobattler where you build a living forest kingdom that fights for you.” Its central hook is planning the battlefield around a river: route the water through terrain, troops and defences to activate tile effects and connect bonuses downstream. Once you have prepared your kingdom and army, battles play out automatically.
What can you do in the demo?
The game’s listed loop combines territorial expansion, army and defence choices, and river routing before each automatic battle against orc hordes. Steam advertises more than 100 cards, four campaigns, bosses and endless challenges for the game, but the listing does not clearly say which of those features are included in the free demo. Treat them as advertised game features, not a confirmed demo-content list.
