How Beyond Max Cash changes the Grand Exchange
In its September 30 announcement, Jagex said players can buy and sell items above the old 2.147 billion GP offer limit by combining coins and platinum tokens. The Grand Exchange handles the combination when an offer completes, so high-value transactions can be placed through the existing GE rather than a separate marketplace. The new offer ceiling—and the stack limit
The combined-currency system is effectively capped at about 2.149 trillion GP. That does not raise the maximum size of an individual item stack: item stacks, including stacks of currency, remain capped at 2.147 billion. Existing restrictions such as buy limits also remain in force.
Guide prices, tax and interface support
Jagex has raised the guide-price adjustment ceiling from 5% to 20% and moved updates from once every 24 hours to every three hours. The company says lower-volume items will also receive updates. GE tax continues to apply, with a maximum tax of 5 million coins per item. Many interfaces now accept values above 2.147 billion, but Jagex lists the loot tracker and ground items among the exceptions.

A current currency-handling issue
Jagex’s update page lists known issues in which platinum may be converted to GP during GE transactions and a coin placeholder may remain in the bank. Its current advice for avoiding currency shuffling is to withdraw the exact amount of coins needed into your inventory before placing an offer. Jagex says it is working on improvements to the platinum-conversion issue; check the live update page for the latest guidance.
Why Jagex says it made the change
Jagex says the expanded GE is intended to let players handle high-value trades in-game instead of arranging face-to-face trades or using external sites. The company says this should make transactions safer, improve price transparency, preserve the GE tax as a gold sink and provide a convenient way to sell newly released items. Those are Jagex’s stated aims; its announcement does not report independent measurements of the results.

RuneFest 2026 is in progress
RuneFest is scheduled for October 3–4, 2026, at Birmingham NEC. The official preview says the livestream begins October 3 at 13:00 UTC. The published schedule includes the Old School RuneScape Summit at 19:00 UTC and an OSRS developer discussion at 20:00 UTC, following earlier programming that includes the opening ceremony, a PvP invitational, the Dragonwilds Summit, the Golden Gnome Awards and the RuneScape Summit. Event timing can change, so consult Jagex’s RuneFest 2026 preview for the current schedule.
For people attending in person
Jagex describes the official RuneFest app as a place to follow the schedule and merchandise catalogue, book meet-and-greets and use its new IRL Questing feature. Login instructions are sent to the email address used to buy the ticket. Jagex introduced the feature in its September 29 RuneFest preview.
