The sequel is coming to PS5 in physical and digital formats and to PC digitally. The announcement does not give an exact release date.
When does Kena: Scars of Kosmora come out?
The current release window is 2027. That replaces the 2026 window given when the game was announced in February 2026. Ember Lab’s Thomas Varga, a game writer at the studio, said the move gives the team more time to polish the expanded experience: “Pushing our release into 2027 gives us the ability to really polish the expanded game experience we want to deliver.” PlayStation Blog announced the change on October 1, 2026.
No specific day or month has been announced, so 2027 is the most precise current timing available.

Is Scars of Kosmora a sequel to Kena: Bridge of Spirits?
Yes. It continues Kena’s story after Kena: Bridge of Spirits. Kena has spent years studying as a Spirit Guide, a role that combines spiritual healing with fighting. When the dead cannot move on peacefully, their pain appears as dangerous Corruption in the environment; Spirit Guides confront that Corruption at its source.
In the new adventure, Kena travels to the mysterious island of Kosmora. Her childhood friend Orfio believes the island may hold answers about their past, while Kena hopes to understand her own past and future as a Spirit Guide.

What is Kosmora, and what are the Alchemystic Temples?
Kosmora’s history and cultures shape the adventure. Its ancient Spirit Guides developed traditions around four elements and built Alchemystic Temples. Four interconnected cultures once flourished on the island, each shaped by a guiding element, until a mysterious cataclysm destroyed one. The surviving cultures still draw on those elements, though their older spiritual meanings have faded.
The temples are described as dungeon experiences that test player skill and offer transformative rewards. The island is also home to living cultures with distinct histories, values, and struggles.

What has Ember Lab said about the gameplay?
PlayStation describes the game as a character-focused linear adventure with a broader and deeper scope than Kena: Bridge of Spirits. Players can also leave the main path to explore. That describes the intended structure, but the announcement does not establish the final scale of the game or how much optional exploration it contains.
The crystalline canine spirit
A crystalline canine spirit companion can serve as Kena’s mount, help in combat both while mounted and on foot, and assist with Alchemystic puzzles.

Kena’s staff and spirit companions
The February 2026 announcement trailer describes Kena’s staff as fractured and says she uses elemental Spirit Guiding. It also presents spirit companions as helping with puzzles and combat. These are announced features, not hands-on findings about how the finished systems play.
