Fortnitemares adds six Sprites with distinct powers, plus temporary Overrides, new weapons and items, and playlist-specific event changes. Find the Sprites in Pumpkin Chests across the Island; Honey Sprite and Obsession Sprite are scheduled to arrive on October 15, 2026. Here’s what each addition does and how the broader changes differ from Sprite powers.
What are the new Fortnitemares Sprites?
Epic’s Fortnitemares announcement describes six Sprite powers. It does not publish damage values, cooldowns, drop rates, rarity rankings, or exact chest locations, so the useful comparison is what triggers each effect and what it is for.

Epic says to search new Pumpkin Chests scattered across the Island, with additions appearing during the month. The announcement does not give guaranteed spawn points or odds, so a specific route or chest cannot be treated as a reliable location.
How finding and collecting Sprites works
The event roster describes the new powers, while Epic’s v41.00 season notes explain the broader collection loop: find a Sprite in a match, carry it to an Extraction Site, and bank it before you are eliminated. Once extracted, it enters your collection and can be summoned in future matches by spending Sprite Dust. Epic also describes leveling Sprites through exploration, eliminations, and extraction; mastering a max-level Sprite unlocks progression rewards.

These detailed collection rules come from the v41.00 notes and should be read as the season system’s explanation, not proof that every mechanic is unchanged for this October event. In Epic’s June 5, 2026 season launch article, the simpler summary is to find a Sprite and extract it to add it to your collection for future matches. Examples there—shields, temporary invisibility, and bonus burst damage—are launch-season examples, not part of the Fortnitemares roster above.
Epic Support says Sprites continue into Chapter 7 Season 4. Collected Runners Sprites will be represented in a Sprite Garden, where players can play with Sprites, visit friends’ garden sanctuaries, and display their collections. That transition does not establish that every Sprite power carries over unchanged.

What other Fortnitemares gameplay effects were added?
Fortnitemares Overrides
Epic lists new Fortnitemares Overrides with effects that can cloak players while sprinting, increase hits as health drops, disguise a player as a Halloween prop, trade shields for extra health, or add pumpkin rockets while shooting. These are broader event effects, separate from the six named Sprite powers.
Weapons, boss item, and Gizmo
- Bonerattler SMG: reveals enemies through walls.
- Freddy’s Nightmare: claimed after defeating Freddy Krueger at Nightmare Neighborhood; it teleports the user into range to slash the next opponent.
- Snack-O’-Lantern Gizmo: spills Exotic Candy when thrown and smashed.
- Returning items: Wood Stake Shotgun, Dual Fiend Hunters, Witch Broom, and Heavy Assault Rifle.
Possessed animatronics
Players may possess defeated Five Nights at Freddy’s animatronics. If health bottoms out while possessed, a brief non-elimination interval occurs before the shell breaks.

Which event changes depend on a playlist or date?
Fortnitemares also has playlist and schedule details that can rotate or expire; they are not universal Sprite abilities. Epic identifies Horde Rush and Blitz Royale content, and dates the refreshed Reload map to October 8, 2026. A special Power Hour on October 3 has everyone dropping in with Dual Fiend Hunters and increases Bounty Hunter Sprite appearances. Check the in-game event and playlist listings for current availability, since these schedule details are time-sensitive.

Epic’s announcement separates several fixes from new gameplay effects: missing Batmobile boost sound effects were added, missing blades and visual effects were restored to The Foundation’s Plasma Spike Pickaxe, and a Nintendo Switch 2 issue involving intense flashing when Rebecca’s Guns were fired was fixed. These are presentation or technical fixes, not new Sprite powers.
