CD PROJEKT RED released PC Hotfix 5.00c for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered on October 1, 2026, addressing save/load failures, quieter voiceover audio after using pause-menu tabs, and other issues. GamesRadar also reported an earlier same-day update for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox Play Anywhere PC. A fix for the console volume problem was still in progress, with no release date announced.
What the October 1 updates changed
The day’s updates were not one identical patch for every platform. CD PROJEKT RED’s official Hotfix 5.00c notes cover Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, Battle.net and Xbox Play Anywhere PC. GamesRadar reported a separate earlier update for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox Play Anywhere PC, citing CDPR social posts.
| Platform or storefront | Update evidence | Reported change |
|---|---|---|
| Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, Battle.net and Xbox Play Anywhere PC | Official CDPR Hotfix 5.00c notes, dated October 1, 2026 | Addresses Documents-folder path save/load failures and pause-menu voiceover volume drop; also lists additional fixes and adjustments. |
| PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S | Earlier same-day update reported by GamesRadar from CDPR social posts | GamesRadar says it included lighting changes. The report also says a console volume fix was being worked on, with no date set. |
| Xbox Play Anywhere PC | GamesRadar’s account of the earlier update, followed by official Hotfix 5.00c notes | The earlier update reportedly fixed unavailable DLSS; Hotfix 5.00c also lists Xbox Play Anywhere PC among its platforms. |
The primary social posts behind GamesRadar’s account were not independently accessible for this article, so the earlier update’s details should be treated as reported rather than as verified official patch-note text. GamesRadar’s October 1 report describes two updates in one day; CDPR’s official Hotfix 5.00c announcement confirms the later PC hotfix.
Problems Hotfix 5.00c addresses
Save and load failures tied to the Documents path
CDPR says the hotfix addresses an issue that prevented saving and loading when the path to the Documents folder included special characters. If that condition caused your problem, install the update and try saving or loading again. The notes do not describe a separate recovery method for saves that remain inaccessible.

Voiceover audio becoming quieter after pause-menu navigation
The official notes list a fix for voiceover audio becoming quieter after navigating between tabs in the pause menu. This is the PC hotfix’s stated audio correction; it does not establish that the same fix had reached consoles on October 1.
HairWorks change reverted
CDPR says it reverted a HairWorks change after it caused significant performance and visual issues for some users. The notes do not publish frame-rate measurements, tested hardware, or a quantified performance improvement, so there is no supported percentage or benchmark to cite.

Other listed fixes and adjustments
Hotfix 5.00c also lists visual adjustments in Velen, changes to marketing telemetry settings, a correction for a GOG achievements display issue, and a fix for the inability to launch the Classic 1.32 version. CDPR says it continues investigating reported issues.
What remains unresolved on consoles
GamesRadar attributed the console volume-fix update to CDPR global community and social media director Marcin Momot, who said: “We’re working on it.” The report said no date had been set. That means players should not treat the console audio fix as released or scheduled for a particular day based on the October 1 account.

Download size and performance claims
GamesRadar reported an approximate 5GB download size for the PC hotfix, attributing the estimate to Momot. It is a rough download-size figure, not a performance metric. Neither the official notes nor the report supplies a benchmark showing how much performance changed after Hotfix 5.00c.
