The studios describe it as playable solo or with up to three friends, and say Early Access is planned for 2027. A community playtest was scheduled for October 1–4, 2026; as of October 3, that window is underway, but the announcement does not confirm whether players can still sign up or get access.
What the partnership means
Megabit is the publishing partner and Aska Studios is developing the game, according to the announcement. The companies have not provided further detail there about the division of work beyond that publisher-developer relationship.
Aska Studios CEO Ólafur Hrafn Steinarsson said, “Getting the game in front of players early and often is really important to us.” Megabit CEO Jonathan Hales said, “We’re thrilled to be working with Aska on Gang of Frogs,” The comments express the companies’ approach to the project, not independent assessments of how it plays.
What kind of game is Gang of Frogs?
Aska Studios describes Gang of Frogs as a “Co-op shooter with a deckbuilder meta game.” Players take the roles of cloned mercenary frogs in a third-person shooter that combines roguelite runs and deckbuilding. The announcement also describes fighting monsters and bugs, exploring unusual civilizations, and undertaking raids in handcrafted worlds.
