HEROIC moved head coach Joonas “doto” Forss to the bench on October 1, 2026. The organization’s stated reason was that it had chosen the direction it believed best for the project over the long term; CEO Joachim Harg called the decision difficult. HLTV’s report did not give a more specific tactical, interpersonal, or performance-related explanation.
What happened to doto at HEROIC?
HEROIC benched doto less than three months after appointing him head coach of its main Counter-Strike team in July 2026. The move ended his brief stint in charge of the roster, but the report did not say that he had left coaching or the organization permanently.
Before taking over the main team, doto had coached HEROIC Academy and ENCE Prospects. HLTV described the HEROIC main-team position as his first role leading a tier-one team. HLTV’s October 1 report covered the benching and his time with the team; its doto profile provides additional career context.
Why did HEROIC bench doto?
Harg said HEROIC had chosen what it considered the best direction for its long-term project. He also described doto as a genuinely great person and said that made the decision difficult. HLTV did not report a more detailed reason, so the available account does not establish that the benching was caused by poor results, a tactical disagreement, or a conflict.
