For PvE, prioritize Daevanion nodes that strengthen Overhead Slam and Rending Blow, then invest in a third damage skill—Ruinous Blow in the Global Season 1 guide’s early route, or Crushing Wave in Power Up Gaming’s build. For PvP, build toward closing distance, crowd control, and surviving long enough to punish an opening. These are different jobs, and the available guides draw on different regional and patch contexts; check your client’s board unlocks and stigma limits before copying either setup.
What changes between a PvE and PvP build?
Gladiator is a melee greatsword damage dealer with area attacks, mobility, defensive tools, and some party utility. In PvE, the aim is sustained damage, efficient farming, and contribution during boss stagger windows. In PvP, damage matters only after you can reach and control a target. AION 2 Meta describes Gladiator as a strong farming and leveling class, but notes that kiting is a weakness and single-target burst can lag behind Assassin or Ranger.
Use the actual board and stigma options available in your client as the deciding factor. The Global Season 1 guide, updated September 30, 2026, is based on Korean and Taiwanese material adapted for Global and says no Global PvP meta had formed at that time. Power Up Gaming’s October 1 build and AION 2 Meta’s Korean player data are useful reference points, not proof of a settled Global standard. Global Season 1 Gladiator guide · Power Up Gaming build
Choose the right version of the system first
Guides describe different Daevanion and stigma rules. The Global Season 1 guide describes five Global boards and four stigma slots, with stigma upgrades capped at level 20 in its launch-period context. A separate Aion2Builds progression guide describes six boards, including Ariel, and five stigma slots with upgrades to level 25 after a July patch. Those descriptions should not be merged into a single ruleset: they appear to represent different client or patch contexts. For a Global Season 1 character, start with the explicitly Global-focused guide and verify what your current client exposes.

The Global guide names Nezekan (level 12), Zikel (20), Vaizel (30), and Triniel (40) as PvE-relevant early boards, and Azphel (45) as the PvP-focused board. It says Azphel offers damage and tolerance nodes rather than skill nodes. Do not import Ariel or other board details from a different ruleset into the five-board Global route. PvE Daevanion priorities
Early progression: raise the main damage skills
The Global Season 1 guide recommends using blue skill nodes first to improve Overhead Slam and Rending Blow, then Ruinous Blow. That is a practical early progression order when resources are limited: strengthen the skills the guide identifies as central to Gladiator damage before spreading investment across a wider board.

Broader damage route: choose the third skill your board supports
Power Up Gaming’s PvE list names Rending Blow, Overhead Slam, and Crushing Wave as core Daevanion skill nodes. Its route differs from the Global guide’s Ruinous Blow priority. Treat these as build-source alternatives rather than trying to force both lists into one universal order: follow the unlocked nodes in your client, then invest in the skill that fits your available route and play pattern.
Power Up Gaming also recommends Combat Speed and Attack on Nakiel, Damage Boost on Ezekiel, and boss damage. Its suggested stat priorities are Combat Speed, Crit Hit, Attack Power, Multi-Hit, Accuracy, and Crit Damage. These are that guide’s endgame-style recommendations, not a verified Global Season 1 ranking.

Stigmas and boss stagger windows
Power Up Gaming lists Assault/Lunge Stance, Rage Burst, Zikel’s Blessing, and Lifestealing Blade for PvE. It proposes using Zikel’s Blessing instead of Rage Burst when prioritizing party stagger damage. During a boss stagger window, use Mocking Blade and Overhead Slam; Leaping Slam and Rush Strike help maintain contact when movement is needed. The precise timing depends on the encounter and the skills available in your version.
AION 2 Meta’s reported Korean usage data offers a separate signal, not a required loadout. Its October 1, 2026 data covers 6,995 Korean PvE players in the stigma table:

| Zikel’s Blessing | 98.8% |
| Rage Burst | 96.9% |
| Focused Block | 94.8% |

These percentages describe stigma use in AION 2 Meta’s Korean sample, not Global characters or all Gladiators. They do not settle the difference between Power Up Gaming’s suggested set and the Korean usage list; mode, patch, and build configuration may differ. AION 2 Meta Gladiator guide and data

Build to reach and control a target
Power Up Gaming prioritizes gap-closing and crowd-control skill nodes, including Leaping Slam and Mocking Blade. It also recommends PvP Damage and Tolerance on Azphel, Accuracy and Resistance, and Overhead Slam sustain nodes. Its suggested stats are Crit Hit, Combat Speed, Accuracy, PvP Damage Boost, HP, and CC Resist. The Global Season 1 guide frames Gladiator as a durable diver and emphasizes anti-control and stickiness before burst.

Use the opening, rather than diving on cooldown
- Close distance: use a gap-closing skill such as Leaping Slam to get onto the target.
- Control: follow with Mocking Blade to set up a knockdown or other punish window.
- Punish: Power Up Gaming’s proposed sequence is Leaping Slam → Mocking Blade → Rage Burst → Overhead Slam. Adapt it to the control and defenses actually available in your client.
- In large fights, wait for the first control wave: Power Up Gaming advises holding back until the enemy’s opening crowd control has been spent, then diving to disrupt healers and punish a knocked-down target.
The Global guide’s simpler PvP principle is to close, knock the target down, and punish with Overhead Slam; use burst when enemy defenses are down. Its warning that a Global PvP meta had not yet formed is important context for treating any sequence as a recommendation rather than settled consensus.
Korean PvP stigma usage is context, not a prescription
AION 2 Meta reports these stigma rates among 1,209 Korean PvP players in its October 1, 2026 data:
| Stigma | Reported PvP usage |
|---|---|
| Rage Burst | 99.7% |
| Lunge Stance | 99.6% |
| Zikel’s Blessing | 99.3% |
| Focused Block | 99.3% |
| Lifestealing Blade | 96.9% |
AION 2 Meta labels this “Meta KR,” drawing on Korean players and a Korean patch dated October 1, 2026; it says its page includes options that exist in the Global client and advises using percentages as priorities rather than exact targets. The sample is not a Global Season 1 leaderboard. Its high-use stigma list also differs from the stigmas in Power Up Gaming’s build, so use it as a prompt to compare options—not as proof that one guide’s build is wrong.
Quick Recap
How to decide where your next points go
- For dungeons and bosses: favor damage skill nodes and the stagger contribution your party needs; make sure mobility lets you stay on the target.
- For farming: lean toward area damage and sustained output rather than spending every point on player-target control.
- For PvP: prioritize target access, anti-control, and survivability before investing heavily in a burst sequence you cannot reliably land.
- For limited resources: improve core skills first, then expand into supporting damage or defensive nodes as your board and progression allow.
- Before changing a build: confirm your region, patch, level cap, unlocked boards, stigma slots, and party role. Those details determine whether a listed node or slot count applies to your character.
