PS5 system software version 26.06-14.10.00 is a maintenance update. Its published notes say Sony made security fixes and improved system software performance and stability, but do not identify a specific vulnerability or announce a new user-facing feature. The update was reported to begin a phased rollout on October 1, 2026; if it is not showing on your console, check for it in Settings.
PS5 update 26.06-14.10.00 patch notes
Sony Interactive Entertainment’s patch notes, reproduced by TalkEsport and Insider Gaming, say:
- “We’ve made some security fixes to the system software.”
- “We’ve improved system software performance and stability.”
The notes do not name the security issues or quantify a performance change. No download size, exploit name, or security severity is established by the cited coverage.
What’s new—and what the notes don’t confirm
This is described as a maintenance update, not a feature release. The published notes do not list interface changes or other new user-facing functionality. Coverage has discussed speculation about a jailbreak connection, but that connection is unconfirmed; the notes do not identify a patched jailbreak or vulnerability.

When the update is available
Coverage from TalkEsport and Push Square dates the start of the phased rollout to October 1, 2026. Availability can vary by console, so a missing prompt does not necessarily mean anything is wrong. Check manually through the system software menu.

How to download the update on PS5
The standard method is to check for and install the update from the console’s Settings menu:
- Open Settings > System.
- Select System Software > System Software Update and Settings.
- Select Update System Software if an update is available, then follow the on-screen instructions.

If the download is stuck or fails
Sony’s support instructions say to press the PS button, open Downloads/Uploads, highlight the update, select View Error Info, then choose Try Again. If ordinary downloads fail repeatedly, Sony documents a USB update as a fallback.

This optional method requires a PC or Mac and a USB drive formatted as FAT32 or exFAT. Sony’s update file requires approximately 1.1 GB of free space on the drive. Download the file from Sony’s PS5 system software support page; the file link there may point to the current version.

- On the USB drive, create a folder named
PS5, then create a folder namedUPDATEinside it. - Save Sony’s official PS5 console update file in the
UPDATEfolder with the filenamePS5UPDATE.PUP. - Turn off the PS5. Hold its power button until you hear the second beep to start Safe Mode.
- Choose Update System Software > Update from USB Storage Device > OK.
Use only the official file from Sony’s support page, and do not turn off the console during installation: Sony warns that interrupting the process can damage the system. A system software update is different from reinstalling system software; Sony says reinstalling deletes all console data.
