Borderless Gaming says its BGFX pipeline can run a separately downloadable DLSS 5 neural-rendering effect on a wider range of GPUs, while its BGFG frame generator is a different feature. Neither claim means NVIDIA’s native, game-integrated DLSS 5 is available on AMD or Intel cards. The developer’s announcement does not identify verified non-NVIDIA models or provide independent cross-GPU tests.
What Borderless Gaming has added
Borderless Gaming’s developer announced two separate capabilities in Steam posts: BGFG, its own general-purpose frame generator, and a DLSS 5 neural-rendering effect that runs through the utility’s BGFX pipeline. The DLSS 5-style effect is not the same as NVIDIA’s native game integration.
DLSS 5 neural-rendering effect
In a September 29, 2026 announcement, developer Andrew said the effect runs the model directly through BGFX rather than forwarding requests to NVIDIA’s DLLs. He said it does not replace game DLLs, modify game files, or require a game-specific mod. TechRadar reports that users need to install Borderless Gaming and separately download the DLSS5-NR effect; it is not installed or active by default. BGFG frame generation
BGFG is Borderless Gaming’s own frame-generation feature, announced September 22, 2026. The developer describes it as a general-purpose generator for games, anime, and live-action video that needs no game modifications. It says BGFG was trained on tens of thousands of hours of gameplay and is designed to reduce ghosting and UI smearing. Those are developer claims, not independently verified performance findings. BGFG is distinct from the DLSS 5 neural-rendering effect: one generates frames, while the other applies a neural-rendering effect through BGFX.

Does this mean DLSS 5 works on AMD or Intel GPUs?
Not in the official, NVIDIA-integrated sense. NVIDIA describes its DLSS 5 as 3D-guided neural rendering that uses a game-engine frame and data such as motion vectors to generate lighting and material detail. NVIDIA says its compact model runs locally on a single GeForce RTX 50 Series GPU at up to 4K. That describes NVIDIA’s implementation, not the hardware support of Borderless Gaming’s separate BGFX effect. See NVIDIA’s DLSS 5 technical overview.
Borderless Gaming’s developer says quantizing the model and removing bottlenecks lets its effect work on a wider range of GPUs. But the reviewed announcements do not name a confirmed AMD or Intel card, provide a compatibility list, or show controlled tests across GPU vendors. Treat “wider range” as the developer’s claim, not proof that a specific non-NVIDIA card will run it well—or at all.

What performance has been reported?
The developer gave an example of “around 30 FPS” on an RTX 3090, with performance depending on the game and settings. This is a qualified developer-provided example, not an independent benchmark, a guarantee, or a result for an AMD or Intel GPU. TechRadar repeats the developer’s claims but does not supply a controlled multi-GPU comparison.
NVIDIA’s “up to 4K” figure applies to its own DLSS 5 implementation on a GeForce RTX 50 Series GPU; it is not a resolution or performance result established for Borderless Gaming’s effect. The available claims therefore do not support a direct performance comparison between the two implementations.

How to try it—and what to check
- Install Borderless Gaming from its Steam listing. Steam describes it as paid software with borderless fullscreen, BGFX visual effects and upscaling, and BGProxy compatibility features.
- Separately download the DLSS5-NR effect. The developer says it is not bundled as an active feature in the app update; consult the developer’s announcement for the effect and current setup details.
- Check whether the effect launches and renders correctly on your particular GPU, game, and graphics API. The available announcements do not establish a model-by-model compatibility list.
- Evaluate the result in the same scene and settings, watching for image artifacts, ghosting, UI smearing, frame pacing, and latency. Keep source FPS separate from generated FPS, and do not compare BGFG results with the neural-rendering effect as if they were the same feature.
For a meaningful GPU comparison, hold the game, resolution, graphics settings, driver, and Borderless Gaming/effect version constant. Record the GPU and API, and report both source and generated frame rates. No published controlled comparison across AMD, Intel, and NVIDIA cards is established by the announcements and coverage cited here.
