Quern: Undying Thoughts is scheduled to arrive on Nintendo Switch on October 6, 2026, according to Nintendo’s North American store listing. It is a single-player, first-person puzzle adventure about exploring an island, following environmental clues and uncovering why you were brought there. The date is still upcoming as of October 3, 2026.
When does Quern: Undying Thoughts release on Switch?
Nintendo lists October 6, 2026 as the release date for Quern: Undying Thoughts on Nintendo Switch in North America. Because that date is in the future as of October 3, 2026, the game is scheduled to release rather than already available. Store details can change as launch approaches. Nintendo’s North American listing identifies Blue Brain Games as the Switch publisher.
What kind of game is Quern?
Quern: Undying Thoughts is a first-person puzzle adventure set on an island. The portal closes after you arrive, leaving you to explore a place marked by signs of earlier inhabitants: notes, machines and unanswered questions. Nintendo’s publisher-provided description emphasizes discovering the island at your own pace and piecing together why you were brought there.
Exploration and environmental clues
Play revolves around examining the island and making sense of what you find. Nintendo describes the environments as handcrafted and the storytelling as environmental: the setting, objects and written clues help build the mystery rather than simply explaining it upfront.

Puzzles that build on their mechanics
The puzzles ask you to observe clues and work out how the island’s mechanisms function. Nintendo says puzzle mechanics can reappear and build on one another. The official listing does not establish a difficulty level, so puzzle challenge should not be assumed from the description alone.
How many players and play modes does the Switch version support?
Nintendo lists one player on one system, with TV, tabletop and handheld play modes. The North American store offer is labeled Nintendo Switch, Digital. Nintendo’s German listing names the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller as compatible, but does not say it is required; the listed handheld and tabletop modes are also available. Nintendo Germany’s listing provides the controller detail.

What is known about the Switch version’s performance?
The official store listings establish platform, modes and product details, but do not provide independent Switch testing. They do not establish frame rate, resolution, load times, how the controls feel in practice or how the puzzles compare in difficulty with other versions. The Steam listing covers the original PC release, not Switch performance. It credits Zadbox Entertainment as developer and Blue Brain Games and Zadbox Entertainment as publishers, and gives November 28, 2016 as the PC release date. Steam’s listing for the original PC release provides those credits and date; they should not be read as Switch test results.
