The results and vote counts were reported by the Associated Press on October 2, 2026. The AP described the selectors as a panel of baseball writers, broadcasters, reporters and researchers that included several former players, managers and executives. Its report does not give the full ballot-scoring method or a formal rationale for the choices, so the statistics below provide season context rather than a stated explanation for the voting.
What Crow-Armstrong did in 2026
According to the AP’s 2026 season figures, Crow-Armstrong hit .280 with 45 home runs and 41 stolen bases, joining the 40-40 club. He scored 119 runs, tied for the major-league lead in home runs, posted a .943 OPS (second in the majors) and drove in 107 runs (fourth).
He became the seventh Cubs player to win Baseball Digest’s player award. The previous Chicago winner was a shared honor: Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo split it in 2016.
