Her reflection was about chances the team felt it had given away and the better postseason position it might have earned—not one play alone.
What Clark meant by “it hurts a little bit”
“A lot of really good moments. A lot of tough moments, too, where we felt we probably gave a lot of opportunities away,” Clark said. “It’s what hurts a little bit. We could’ve put ourselves in a better spot going into the postseason.” The Associated Press report published October 2, 2026, attributes the comments to Clark after Indiana’s elimination.
Clark also said she was proud of the group and that the team had weathered a lot amid outside attention and scrutiny. Her remarks framed the disappointment as a season-long feeling about opportunities and positioning, rather than blaming a single call or moment for the loss.
How Indiana’s season ended
Indiana finished the regular season 4–4, according to the AP account, and entered the playoffs as the sixth seed. Las Vegas was seeded third. The Aces won the deciding Game 3, 94–83, on October 1, ending the Fever’s first-round run.

The matchup followed Indiana’s late-season position; the report does not establish that seeding alone determined the outcome. In the game, the Fever opened with 31 points in the first quarter, then scored no more than 18 in any of the final three quarters. Indiana twice pulled within two points in the fourth but did not complete the comeback.
Clark’s strong start and quieter finish
The AP report records a sharp split in Clark’s scoring. She had 11 points in the first quarter, making 4 of 7 shots overall and 3 of 6 from three-point range. Over the rest of the game, she scored seven points on 2-of-11 shooting, including 0-for-6 from three.

Those figures describe how Clark’s night unfolded; by themselves, they do not explain the Fever’s defeat. Indiana’s fourth-quarter push kept the game close twice, but the team could not turn those opportunities into a lead.
A different ending from the previous season
The AP report contrasted this elimination with the previous year’s, when injuries kept Clark on the bench as Indiana’s season ended against the Aces. In 2026, she played in Game 3. The report does not give further medical detail about the prior injuries.

What happened after a fourth-quarter hit
Asked why no foul was called after a hit to her face in the fourth quarter, Clark replied, “Your guess would be as good as mine.” The AP account said she had a bloody mouth and appeared to handle a loose tooth at the postgame news conference; it did not confirm a dental injury.
