The rating reported as pulled was PEGI’s online listing for Grand Theft Auto VI—not every rating for the game. Video Games Chronicle (VGC) reported that the listing briefly showed PEGI 18 and detailed descriptions of violence, drug use and sexual content before disappearing. Australia still lists the game R 18+, and the ESRB lists it M for Mature 17+ in the United States.
What happened to the GTA 6 rating?
VGC reported on October 3, 2026, that PEGI had published an 18 rating for Grand Theft Auto VI on Friday, accompanied by detailed content descriptions, and then removed the listing from its website. The listing is no longer available there, so its descriptions are known here through VGC’s account, not a currently viewable PEGI entry. VGC’s report
The reported withdrawal concerns PEGI’s website listing. It does not mean that Australia’s or the United States’ ratings were withdrawn, nor that one worldwide rating applies: each authority assigns ratings for its own region and system.
What content did the removed PEGI listing reportedly describe?
VGC attributed the following descriptions to the removed listing. These are reported rating descriptions, not independently verified observations of gameplay.

VGC quoted the description as saying, “Most notably, cocaine can be carried around by the player and snorted directly from their hand at any time.”
- Sexual content and nudity: VGC reported descriptions of nudity, intercourse scenes and occasional sexual fetishes. It also said the listing described paid private dances where players could move their character’s hands onto dancers’ breasts and buttocks.
- Animals: VGC said the listing noted that animals can be harmed, with less detail about injuries than it gave for human characters.
