Is Zach Charbonnet playing this week?
No. Seattle listed Charbonnet out for its October 4 game against the Chargers because he was not yet eligible to return from reserve/physically unable to perform (PUP). The Seahawks’ October 2 injury report confirms he was limited in his Thursday return to practice; CBS Sports, citing Seahawks senior reporter John Boyle, reported that he was limited Friday as well. When could Charbonnet return?
Week 5 was the earliest Seattle said he could return to a game, according to the October 2 report. That is an eligibility threshold, not a forecast: the reports reviewed do not confirm that Seattle will activate him or that he will play in Week 5.
Why was Charbonnet on reserve/PUP?
Charbonnet tore his ACL in Seattle’s divisional-round win over San Francisco and underwent offseason knee surgery, according to the team. He opened the 2026 season on reserve/PUP and was required to miss at least the first four games. Seattle’s July update said he had no timetable at that point. What Seattle’s return-to-practice designation means
On October 1, Seattle designated Charbonnet to return to practice, opening a 21-day practice window. During that window he can practice without counting against the 53-player roster limit. Before the window expires, the team must add him to the roster or leave him on PUP for the rest of the season. Head coach Mike Macdonald described the factors behind the timing this way: “It’s a matter of how many practices they need, roster spots and things like that.” The same team report quoted him saying Charbonnet was “doing a great job” and “in a great position mentally.” Those comments do not change the Week 4 status or confirm a return date.
