A Super Chat marked Cancelled was not charged; one marked Refunded should be credited to the original payment method. YouTube describes Super Chats as voluntary, non-refundable payments, but its public help pages do not explain why a particular purchase was automatically cancelled or refunded. Check the transaction status, receipt, and billing route before deciding what happened.
First, check whether the payment was cancelled or refunded
These statuses mean different things. YouTube says a Cancelled order was not charged. A Refunded order should have a credit returned to the payment method used. Check the transaction in Google payments and compare it with your card, bank, or other payment account.
- Cancelled: YouTube says the order was not charged. If your account appears to show a debit, compare the exact transaction and status with your payment provider.
- Refunded: Look for a credit to the original payment method. YouTube says most refunds take five working days, though some payment methods have different timelines. Check the refund status in Google payments and allow for the payment provider’s processing time.

Why might YouTube cancel or refund a Super Chat?
YouTube’s public help pages do not give a universal reason for an automatic cancellation or refund, or explain the reason for any specific transaction. A bank decline, app problem, or fraud check may sound plausible, but do not treat any of these as the cause unless YouTube or your payment provider confirms it for your transaction.

YouTube’s general policy is that Super Chats and Super Stickers are voluntary, non-refundable payments. The policy does not promise a refund because a message did not appear or was removed. Identify where the purchase was billed
The payment route affects which account record to check and whom to contact. YouTube says a receipt is emailed after a Super Chat purchase; some new purchases in the YouTube Android app are billed through Google Play. For purchases billed by Apple, YouTube says it cannot grant the refund and directs viewers to Apple.

- Find the Super Chat receipt in the email account associated with the purchase.
- Check the transaction in Google payments and note whether the status is Cancelled or Refunded.
- Use the receipt and payment record to identify the billing route, then compare that transaction with the matching card, bank, Google Play, or Apple account activity.
- If Apple billed the purchase, contact Apple about a refund request. For other unclear payment issues, contact YouTube support with the receipt or transaction details.

What to do if the purchase still does not make sense
The order says Cancelled, or the app showed an error
Confirm whether the payment account shows a completed charge for the same transaction. If the transaction is absent or cancelled but the app showed an error, contact YouTube support and provide the receipt or transaction details. The public help pages do not establish one cause that applies to all such cases.

The order says Refunded, but you cannot see the credit
Check Google payments for the refund status, then check the original payment method. YouTube says most refunds take five working days, with different estimated windows for some payment methods; your bank, carrier, or payment provider may affect how quickly the credit appears. If it remains missing beyond the timeline for that method, contact the relevant support service with the transaction details.
You did not authorize the purchase
If nobody with access to the account made the purchase, use YouTube’s unauthorized-charge reporting process. YouTube says digital-purchase charges can be reported within 120 days. It recommends checking whether a family member made the purchase and enabling purchase verification to help prevent unauthorized purchases.

Does a missing or removed message qualify for a refund?
Not by itself. YouTube says Super Chat and Super Sticker payments are voluntary and non-refundable, and that moderation or removal of a Super Chat does not generate a refund. A message issue is separate from a transaction marked Cancelled or Refunded, and neither status alone establishes that a payment was unauthorized.
