How viewer location can affect a Super Chat
Availability depends on location
Super Chat and Super Stickers are available only in locations supported by YouTube. A viewer in an unsupported location cannot purchase one through the feature. Since availability can change, check YouTube’s current supported locations information rather than relying on an old country list.
The purchase may be recorded in a local currency
YouTube’s Live Streaming API records a Super Chat event with an amount, represented in micros, and a currency code using ISO 4217. Those fields identify the purchase as recorded; the API documentation does not explain local price tiers or how YouTube converts currencies when calculating a creator’s proceeds. Taxes and purchase channel can affect the amount used for the share
YouTube’s guidance says the 70% share is calculated from Supers revenue confirmed by Google after local sales tax and applicable iOS App Store fees are deducted. YouTube currently covers transaction costs such as credit-card fees. These details do not establish that all viewers pay the same tax or use the same purchase channel. What the 70% figure does—and does not—tell you
YouTube states: “Creators receive 70% of Supers revenue that is confirmed by Google.” That is the platform’s published general share, subject to the stated deductions. It is not a promise that 70% of every price a viewer sees will reach the creator, nor does it establish a special percentage for a particular country.
The public documentation does not publish a complete current regional price table or a formula for comparing creators’ net proceeds across countries. Without transaction-level records and the applicable deductions, a country ranking or a precise country-specific payout estimate would be speculation.

How to check your own Supers revenue
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Analytics.
- Open the Revenue tab.
- Look under “How you make money” for Supers reporting. YouTube’s creator guidance directs creators to this area.
For a particular live-event record, the Live Streaming API’s superChatEvent resource can expose the purchase amount and currency. Those fields can help you identify what was recorded, but they do not by themselves disclose every tax, fee, or conversion step behind your final reported proceeds.
Why RPM is not the payout for one Super Chat
RPM means creator revenue after YouTube’s share per 1,000 views. YouTube describes it as a broad metric that can include several revenue sources, including Super Chat and Super Stickers. It is useful for reviewing overall channel or video monetization, but it is not the net payout for an individual Super Chat. See YouTube’s explanation of revenue analytics.

What you can compare across viewer locations
If you have the relevant transaction and reporting records, compare like with like:
- Whether Super Chat was available to the viewer in that location.
- The purchase amount and currency recorded for the event.
- Any local sales tax deduction and whether an iOS App Store fee applied.
- The confirmed revenue and creator share shown in YouTube reporting.
Do not treat displayed gross prices in different currencies as directly comparable creator earnings. Exchange rates, taxes, and applicable purchase-channel fees may matter, but YouTube’s public material cited here does not specify a country-by-country calculation.
