YouTube’s guidance does not specifically guarantee membership eligibility for a continuous 24/7 stream, so check your channel’s status in YouTube Studio rather than assuming the answer is settled for every always-on broadcast.
Why turning off chat does not automatically turn off memberships
Channel memberships are recurring monthly payments in exchange for creator-provided perks. YouTube treats Super Chat and Super Stickers as separate live-chat monetization features. Disabling chat therefore removes or limits chat-based interaction, but the cited YouTube guidance does not say that doing so, by itself, prevents channel memberships.
YouTube lists memberships as available for horizontal live streams and vertical live feeds, depending on eligibility. That guidance addresses livestream formats; it does not specifically say whether every continuous 24/7 stream qualifies.
What you need before viewers can join
Memberships are not automatic just because a stream is live. Your channel must meet YouTube’s current fan-funding and membership requirements, be in a location where the feature is available, follow applicable policies, and have memberships activated in YouTube Studio. You must also accept the applicable Commerce Product Module. YouTube says feature availability may take time after Partner Program acceptance while it reviews a channel.

YouTube’s published YPP guidance has described two relevant eligibility routes, but meeting a numerical threshold does not guarantee acceptance or availability of every feature:

Which benefits depend on live chat?
With live chat disabled, viewers cannot use features that require chat during that stream, including Super Chats, Super Stickers, member milestone chats, and new-member chat announcements. That does not mean every membership benefit depends on chat. Depending on your settings and YouTube’s policies, perks can include members-only posts, videos or Shorts, early access, badges, emoji used in comments, and a recognition shelf.
Review the available perks and your configuration in YouTube’s guides to membership levels and perks and membership benefits. Choose benefits members can actually use if they are watching a stream with chat turned off.

Check your stream and channel in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and check the Earn tab for channel and memberships eligibility. Follow any prompts to enable the feature and accept the applicable Commerce Product Module.
- Check that memberships are available for your channel and location, and review the active levels and perks. Do not treat a stream-format listing or subscriber threshold as approval by itself.
- Review the live-chat setting for the specific broadcast. Chat settings affect chat-based interactions; they do not substitute for checking memberships in Earn.
- Check the stream’s status and applicable live-stream policies. YouTube says live-streaming access requires channel verification and no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Its guidance also notes that chat may be disabled for some streams featuring 13–15-year-olds who are not visibly accompanied by an adult; that example does not establish that all chat-disabled streams qualify for every other feature. What remains uncertain for a continuous 24/7 broadcast
YouTube’s cited public guidance does not expressly confirm that a continuous 24/7 stream is eligible for memberships, nor does it say that 24/7 duration disqualifies a channel. The careful answer is that disabled chat alone is not listed as a membership bar, while continuous-stream eligibility is not specifically settled by those pages. Check the Earn tab and the rules that apply to your particular channel and broadcast.
