To check a stream you operate, open YouTube Studio → Content → Live and look under Live Now. To see whether the feed is reaching YouTube cleanly, open Live Control Room and check stream health and status. If you are watching someone else’s stream, use its watch page or browse YouTube’s Live section.
Check a stream on your own channel

Sign in to YouTube Studio for the channel that is supposed to be streaming.

Select Content, then Live.

Check the Live Now category. YouTube defines it as videos that are currently live streaming. The page separates these from Upcoming streams and Live Replay broadcasts.
If the stream is missing from Live Now, do not rely on a 24/7 label, title, or description as proof that it is still broadcasting. Check its status in Studio and inspect Live Control Room.

Check stream health and diagnose errors
Live Now answers whether YouTube lists the stream as currently live; it does not by itself explain whether the incoming feed has problems. For feed diagnostics, open Live Control Room and review stream health and status. YouTube says Live Control Room can show status messages with instructions, and that you can check stream health and analytics there while streaming. See YouTube’s live streaming metrics guidance.
YouTube Help says the Live Dashboard and Live Control Room check for errors in the stream being sent to YouTube. Error details include timestamps indicating when an issue was seen. An unfixed error continues to appear; red errors are critical and may disrupt starting or viewing an event, while yellow errors are moderate and may degrade quality. Use the message and its instructions to investigate the specific problem. See YouTube’s live streaming error messages.

Check whether someone else’s stream is live
Open the stream’s public watch page, or browse YouTube’s Live section for current streams. A creator-side Studio listing is not available to ordinary viewers, so use the public stream page or YouTube’s browsing page instead.
What to do if the stream appears to have ended

It is not in Live Now: verify its status in YouTube Studio and check Live Control Room rather than assuming the 24/7 title is current.

Live Control Room shows an error: note the timestamp and severity, then follow the displayed instructions. Red indicates a critical error; yellow indicates a moderate one that may affect quality.

You only need to confirm whether it is live: use Live Now or the public watch page. Encoder setup guidance concerns producing and sending a stream; it is not required just to inspect an existing stream.
