How to set up an encoder stream to YouTube
- Enable live streaming early. In YouTube, open Live Control Room and enable live streaming if this is your first time. YouTube says first-time enablement may take up to 24 hours. Create or reuse a stream there. YouTube’s encoder setup guide
- Get the connection details. In Live Control Room, copy the server URL and stream key for the stream. Keep the key private; anyone who has it may be able to send video to your channel.
- Configure OBS. In OBS, open Settings → Stream, choose YouTube if available as a service preset, or select a custom service and enter YouTube’s server URL and stream key. Build a scene with the radio visual you intend to show, then add your audio source.

Mixxx can broadcast a live DJ mix to Icecast or SHOUTcast. For AzuraCast, its documentation recommends Icecast mode and describes sending Ogg Vorbis for Liquidsoap transcoding. That is a radio-server workflow; it does not replace the YouTube visual encoder. AzuraCast streaming software guide

What makes a stream actually stay live?
Free software does not guarantee 24/7 uptime. The machine or server must remain available, the network must sustain the configured stream, the media source and audio routing must keep working, and someone needs a plan for detecting and recovering from failures.
