To loop lofi videos on a 24/7 YouTube live stream, send a continuous prerecorded video feed to YouTube Live through an encoder. You can run an encoder such as OBS Studio on a computer you keep running, or use a cloud service such as StreamNeo to handle playback without leaving a computer on at home. Before starting, make sure your channel can livestream and that you have the rights to every track and visual in the broadcast.
Check your channel and content before you launch
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. You must be at least 16 to livestream. - Use lofi music and visuals only when you have the rights needed to broadcast them on YouTube.
- If you licensed third-party content, ask the rights owner to add your channel to their Content ID allowlist. A license by itself may not prevent an automated interruption if the owner has not allowlisted your channel.
- Decide whether to archive the stream. YouTube says Content ID claims on archived live streams are made after the broadcast is complete.
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. Identified material can lead to a warning, a placeholder image, interruption, or termination. Review YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance before broadcasting.

Set up a local loop with OBS
YouTube receives an encoded live feed; OBS runs the playback and sends that feed to your channel. The exact controls for looping a media source can vary by OBS version, so consult the current OBS YouTube streaming guide if a label differs.
- Enable livestreaming. In YouTube Studio, verify the channel and enable live streaming. Allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
- Create the YouTube broadcast. In YouTube Studio, choose Create → Go Live, then create or select the stream in Live Control Room.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. If OBS offers YouTube as a service, select it and follow its connection flow. Otherwise, copy the server or stream URL and stream key shown in YouTube Live Control Room into OBS’s streaming settings. Treat the key like a password: anyone who has it can send a feed to your stream.
- Prepare the lofi video output. Add your video and audio to the OBS scene using the appropriate media input, and configure playback to loop. For a sequence of videos, configure the playlist or media inputs in the order you want them to play. Confirm the current OBS controls in its guide rather than relying on a potentially outdated button name.
- Check the picture and sound. Preview the scene, listen for clean audio, and confirm the video plays through and returns to the start as intended. Check that the output is the broadcast you mean to send.
- Start the feed and monitor it. Start streaming in OBS and watch YouTube Live Control Room to confirm the incoming feed and broadcast status. Keep the computer running, connected, and available for the duration of the stream.
YouTube describes an encoder as software or hardware that converts video into a digital format for streaming. Its encoder guidance covers connecting and starting the feed; it does not prescribe a universal OBS looping or playlist configuration.

Troubleshoot common launch problems
- You cannot start a livestream: Check that the channel is verified, meets YouTube’s age and restriction rules, and has livestreaming enabled. If this is the first activation, it may take up to 24 hours.
- YouTube does not receive the encoder feed: Confirm that the selected stream is the one open in Live Control Room, and check the server URL and stream key in the encoder. If you use a key, make sure it matches the intended broadcast.
- The video stops instead of looping: Recheck the media or playlist’s loop setting in the encoder and preview a complete playback cycle before going live.
- The stream shows a warning, placeholder, or interruption: Check YouTube Studio for the copyright notice and the identified material. Resolve the rights issue; if the material is licensed, contact the owner about Content ID allowlisting.
- A local stream ends when you leave: The encoder depends on the local computer and its connection. Keep both running, or move playback to a cloud service.

Can I use music I found online if I credit the artist?
Credit does not establish permission to broadcast. Use music and visuals you have the necessary rights to use, and ask a licensing rights owner about Content ID allowlisting where applicable.
Does YouTube provide the cloud encoder?
