Yes, potentially. YouTube does not list prerecorded 24/7 loops among its Super Chat exclusions. The key is that the video must be presented as a YouTube live stream with live chat available, and both the channel and the specific stream must meet YouTube’s eligibility rules. YouTube’s current help pages do not give a specific ruling on prerecorded loops, so this is an application of its general criteria—not a guarantee for every stream.
What determines whether Super Chat is available?
Super Chat is a fan-funding feature for live streams and Premieres. Viewers can pay to highlight messages or stickers in live chat. A stream being prerecorded is not itself among YouTube’s listed exclusions, but that does not automatically make it eligible: the broadcast still needs to function as a live stream with live chat, and YouTube’s channel-level and video-level requirements apply. YouTube describes Super Chat and Super Stickers; its eligibility guidance does not expressly discuss prerecorded 24/7 loops.
That distinction matters for a looping music, ambience, gameplay, or other prerecorded broadcast. An encoder or streaming service can send the video to YouTube, but it cannot grant Super Chat access or override YouTube’s rules.
Check these requirements before relying on Super Chats
Channel and creator eligibility
- The channel must be in the YouTube Partner Program and eligible for fan funding.
- The creator must be at least 18 and live in a region where Super Chat is available.
- The creator must accept and comply with the applicable Commerce Product Module or prior Commerce Product Addendum, and enable Super Chat in YouTube Studio. YouTube’s Super Chat eligibility guidance lists these requirements.
Stream and video eligibility
- Set the broadcast up as a live stream and leave live chat enabled. Super Chat is unavailable if live chat or comments are turned off.
- The specific video must not be age-restricted, unlisted, private, marked Made for Kids, or a YouTube Giving fundraiser video.
- Check the video’s and channel’s status in YouTube Studio; eligibility can depend on the particular stream as well as the channel. YouTube lists these video-level exclusions.
Live-streaming access is a separate gate
Before monetization is relevant, the channel needs permission to livestream. YouTube says creators need to verify their channel and have no live-stream restriction in the prior 90 days to enable live streaming. Meeting those streaming requirements does not establish YPP or Super Chat eligibility, which are separate checks. See YouTube’s live-streaming setup requirements.

How to verify eligibility in practice
- Confirm livestream access: in YouTube Studio, check that the channel can create a live stream. Verify the channel if prompted and resolve any live-stream restrictions before planning a continuous broadcast.
- Confirm fan-funding access: check YouTube Studio’s Earn area and the Supers tab or card for the channel. Confirm YPP and fan-funding eligibility, region availability, and acceptance of the applicable commerce terms.
- Configure the stream: create the broadcast as a live stream, not a private or unlisted video, and keep live chat enabled. Avoid the listed excluded video categories.
- Check the actual stream before launch: confirm that Super Chat is offered for that live stream in Studio. Do not assume a successful encoder connection means Supers are enabled.
YouTube describes livestreaming as a way to interact in real time through a video feed and chat. Its live-streaming help page covers setup; eligibility for Super Chat remains a separate question.
Super Chats and advertising are different revenue features
Super Chat revenue comes from paid highlighted messages or stickers in live chat. Live-stream ads use separate monetization settings, so permission to run ads does not prove Super Chat eligibility, and Super Chat eligibility does not by itself establish ad monetization. YouTube reports an average uplift of over 20% in instream ad revenue per hour for creators who chose live automatic mid-roll ads. That figure concerns ads, not Super Chats, and is not an estimate of income from a prerecorded 24/7 stream. YouTube does not provide an earnings forecast for this format in the cited guidance.
Keep the broadcast running without confusing setup with eligibility
You can send a prerecorded video to YouTube using an encoder, or use a cloud service to loop uploaded video. Neither method changes the channel or video eligibility rules above. For a continuous stream, separately check your broadcast status, live chat availability, and Super Chat controls in Studio.

Does looping prerecorded footage automatically make a stream ineligible for Super Chat?
YouTube’s published exclusions do not name prerecorded loops, but its help pages do not explicitly rule on every 24/7 prerecorded format. Eligibility depends on the general channel and live-chat criteria and should be checked for the specific stream in Studio.

Can a streaming encoder enable Super Chat?
No. An encoder can transmit a live broadcast, but it does not provide Super Chat access; YouTube’s channel, region, terms, and video rules still apply.
