For prerecorded videos you want to loop 24/7, StreamNeo is the clearest fit: upload your videos, add your YouTube stream key, and let it stream from the cloud. For a changing live camera or encoder feed, AWS Elemental MediaLive is the better-evidenced managed encoding option. Gyre is another option YouTube identifies for continuous prerecorded-video streams. These services solve different jobs, so the right choice starts with your source.
Choose by the kind of stream you need
| Your source and goal | Best fit to investigate | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A library of prerecorded videos played continuously | StreamNeo | Cloud looping and playlists are designed for keeping uploaded videos live on YouTube without leaving a computer running. |
| A prerecorded-video loop using a service listed by YouTube | Gyre | YouTube describes Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 prerecorded-video streams. |
| A changing live camera, encoder, or other live input | AWS Elemental MediaLive | AWS describes it as cloud live-video encoding, and YouTube includes it in its verified encoder directory. |
| A custom-built workflow on rented compute | General-purpose cloud VM or VPS | Possible, but you must supply and operate the encoder, input, monitoring, restart behavior, network capacity, and YouTube-compatible ingest. |
StreamNeo is #1 for the prerecorded-loop use case because it keeps uploaded videos streaming from the cloud, supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day. It is not a live-camera encoder: it plays uploaded videos and streams to YouTube only.
1. StreamNeo: simplest for looping uploaded videos
StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded recordings. Upload a video or build a playlist, enter your YouTube stream key once, and start the stream. StreamNeo loops the content in the cloud, so your computer and home internet connection do not have to stay on.
What a slot includes
- One always-on YouTube stream, with 24/7 looping and playlists.
- Uploaded video streamed as made, up to 4K 60fps, without re-encoding or quality tiers.
- 10 GB storage per slot, pooled across your active slots.
- Automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, plus support from the StreamNeo team.
Every plan has the same product; only the billing period changes. The first day is free with no card, once per account. Billing options are:

2. Gyre: a YouTube-listed option for prerecorded streams
YouTube’s verified encoder directory describes Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 streaming of prerecorded YouTube videos without a dedicated PC or camera. That makes it a relevant option if you want an existing video library to run continuously rather than encode a live camera feed.
The directory listing establishes the use case, not a comparative product test. Before choosing Gyre, confirm its current supported formats, account limits, pricing, recovery behavior, and any applicable partner-program terms directly with the provider.

3. AWS Elemental MediaLive: managed encoding for live inputs
AWS describes MediaLive as cloud-based live video encoding, and YouTube lists AWS Elemental MediaLive among its verified encoders. It is the clearest option in this comparison to investigate when the source is a changing live feed and you want managed cloud encoding rather than a local encoder. YouTube’s directory calls it broadcast-grade processing; that is YouTube’s description, not an independent reliability rating.

AWS notes a monthly option with an annual commitment for 24×7 channels in its MediaLive FAQ. That does not establish a comparable total cost for a particular creator. Region, input and output configuration, redundancy, runtime, and optional services all affect the bill.
Do you need the wider AWS streaming architecture?
AWS documents a broader live-delivery design in which MediaLive encodes, MediaPackage or MediaStore can prepare or originate outputs, and CloudFront delivers video to viewers. Its CloudFront streaming overview describes live events and 24×7 channels; AWS also outlines a live-streaming architecture using its media services.

If YouTube is the final destination, first establish which pieces are needed to produce YouTube’s ingest feed. Packaging, origin, and CDN delivery may be relevant to a service that distributes video directly to viewers, but should not be assumed necessary just because the stream runs continuously.
4. A general-purpose VM or VPS: flexible, but you operate the stream
A rented virtual machine is infrastructure, not a turnkey YouTube livestream service. You still need an input or media library, a compatible encoder, correct ingest settings, a supervisor that restarts failed processes, monitoring, and enough network capacity for continuous output. The available official sources do not establish a best VPS provider or compare VM reliability for this workload.
This route can make sense if you can administer a media pipeline and want control over its components. Include the engineering and monitoring work in the decision, not just the VM rental cost.

What YouTube setup requires
Enable livestreaming and connect the encoder
- Enable livestreaming for the YouTube channel. YouTube says first-time enablement may take up to 24 hours; after it is enabled, a stream can go live instantly.
- In YouTube’s live control room, create or select the stream and obtain its server URL and stream key.
- Enter those values in the encoder or service. YouTube’s instruction is: “To start streaming, enter your YouTube Live server URL and stream key into your encoder.” Keep the key private; anyone with it may be able to send a feed to your channel.
- Choose an ingest protocol supported by both the service and the YouTube workflow you are configuring. A generic claim of HLS or DASH playback support does not prove that a provider implements YouTube’s ingest requirements.
DASH ingest details
YouTube’s DASH guide specifies separate HTTP PUT requests for the MPD, initialization segment, and media segments. It recommends updating the MPD and initialization segment at least every 60 seconds; target media segment duration is 1–5 seconds.
- Use multiplexed ISO BMFF or WebM containing both audio and video.
- Use closed GOPs, with a GOP size around two seconds and under eight seconds.
- Documented combinations include H.264/AAC in MP4 and VP8/VP9 with Vorbis/Opus in WebM.
HLS ingest details
YouTube’s HLS guide calls for muxed M2TS audio and video, H.264 or HEVC video, AAC audio, a closed GOP, one encoded resolution and codec, and persistent HTTPS connections. YouTube describes HLS as suited to high quality and resolution at relatively higher latency.
Continuous-stream archiving
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived. For a broadcast that exceeds 12 hours, check YouTube’s current guidance and channel behavior rather than assuming the same archive outcome.
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
Costs and reliability: compare the whole workload
There is no defensible universal cheapest or most reliable choice among these options from the available published information. For AWS, a useful estimate depends on region, input, output profile, redundancy, runtime, and any packaging or delivery services. With a VM, account for the encoder and operational work as well as compute and network needs. For prerecorded-stream services, confirm current limits, billing, and recovery terms with the provider.
The reviewed official pages do not provide an independent reliability benchmark comparing StreamNeo, Gyre, MediaLive, and DIY cloud VMs. Treat service-specific recovery descriptions as product features, not proof of an uptime ranking.
Common problems and what to check
- The stream will not start on a newly enabled channel: first-time YouTube livestream activation can take up to 24 hours. Check that activation is complete before troubleshooting the encoder.
- YouTube reports an ingest or connection problem: verify that the server URL and stream key match the selected YouTube stream, then confirm the provider supports that exact ingest protocol and its format requirements.
- A DASH stream is rejected or unstable: check that the MPD and initialization segment are refreshed at least every 60 seconds, media segments target 1–5 seconds, audio and video are muxed, and GOPs are closed with a compliant size.
- An HLS feed fails despite working as a normal HLS stream: ordinary HLS delivery is not the same as YouTube HLS ingest. Check for muxed M2TS, supported codecs, a closed GOP, one resolution/codec, and persistent HTTPS connections.
- A DIY process stops after an interruption: add process supervision and alerting, test reconnect behavior, and monitor both encoder health and outbound network capacity. A VM alone does not provide those functions.
- A continuous broadcast does not have the expected archive: YouTube’s stated automatic archive behavior applies to streams shorter than 12 hours; verify current handling for longer streams.
Or let it run in the cloud
For prerecorded videos, StreamNeo keeps the YouTube stream running without anything staying on at home. Upload your video or playlist, add the YouTube stream key, and go live. It streams at any quality up to 4K 60fps at one price per slot, automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream, and the first day is free with no card. The monthly plan is $9.99 per month.
