There is no evidence-based single “best” cloud VM for every nonstop YouTube livestream in India. AWS EC2 and Google Compute Engine both have relevant India regions, but the right choice depends on whether the cloud will encode or merely relay your video, your resolution and frame rate, total data transfer, and how you handle failures. Price the same workload in each region and test an actual stream before committing.
If you want a managed way to keep uploaded videos looping on YouTube rather than operating a cloud VM and encoder yourself, StreamNeo is the first option to consider: it runs from the cloud, supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day. See how StreamNeo works.
Cloud VM or managed looping service?
These are different approaches to a nonstop stream, not interchangeable cloud-provider plans. A virtual machine (VM) gives you a general-purpose server on which you configure and supervise an encoder. It can encode a live source or relay an existing feed, but you remain responsible for keeping the process, source and network path working. A managed looping service is for playing uploaded video on a YouTube channel without leaving your own computer running.
| Approach | Best fit | What you manage |
|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo | Playing uploaded recordings or a playlist continuously on YouTube | Upload the video or create a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and start the stream; the service handles cloud looping and automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. |
| AWS EC2 or Google Compute Engine VM | Custom encoder, relay, or source workflow that needs a configurable server | VM sizing, encoder configuration, disk and transfer costs, process supervision, reconnect behavior, monitoring, and recovery. |
For a YouTube-only nonstop loop of pre-recorded videos, StreamNeo is #1 to try: it runs continuously in the cloud, supports the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and the first day is free.

Which cloud VM services are available in India?
AWS lists Mumbai and Hyderabad regions, while Google Cloud lists Mumbai and Delhi Compute Engine regions. These locations make both providers candidates for an India-hosted workload; region availability alone does not establish which will have better uptime, lower latency, or lower total cost for your stream. See AWS’s India regions and Google Compute Engine regions and zones.
AWS EC2
EC2 On-Demand instances are billed for the time used. Estimate the VM, storage and outbound data transfer together, plus any paid GPU or other service your design requires. AWS’s EC2 pricing page is the place to check current instance pricing; the final monthly amount depends on your configuration and use.

Google Compute Engine
Compute Engine publishes region-specific pricing, so use the configuration and India region you plan to run rather than relying on a generic estimate. Its pricing page notes that some resources are charged separately; account for the VM, disk, outbound transfer and any additional services. Check Google Compute Engine pricing for current values.
Why this is not a provider ranking
There is no workload-matched head-to-head reliability or price comparison here. Neither India-region availability nor a public VM price proves that a provider is the cheapest or most stable for your specific nonstop stream. Compare the same VM and stream workload in each candidate region, then run a trial from the location and network path you intend to use.

How to choose a VM for a 24/7 stream
Build the estimate and test around the actual workload, not simply a “streaming server” label. An encoder that transforms video needs different capacity from a relay that forwards an already encoded feed.
- Total monthly cost: Price the VM for 24/7 runtime, persistent disk, outbound transfer, and any required GPU or other paid service. Check applicable taxes and fees in your billing context.
- Encoding capacity: Match CPU or GPU capacity to the codec, resolution, frame rate and number of streams you will encode. Do not assume a VM that can relay a feed can also encode it at the same quality.
- End-to-end path: Test the video source to VM connection and the VM to YouTube ingest connection. A region name does not tell you the performance of either path from your specific source.
- Recovery behavior: Test what happens if the encoder process exits, the VM reboots, or the network connection drops. Configure a restart and reconnect approach rather than assuming the cloud VM itself keeps the broadcast live.
- Operations: Decide how you will monitor stream health, receive alerts, and get support when the stream fails. Include the time and effort of operating the workflow, not just the VM bill.
Configure the encoder to meet YouTube’s ingest guidance
YouTube supports RTMP/RTMPS and recommends RTMPS, its secure extension to RTMP. Follow YouTube’s current encoder settings guidance for the full bitrate table; recommended values vary by codec, resolution and frame rate.

Settings to check
- Protocol: Prefer RTMPS where your encoder and workflow support it.
- Codec and frame rate: YouTube lists H.264, H.265 and AV1, with frame rates up to 60 fps. Choose settings supported by your encoder and use the codec-specific guidance on YouTube’s page.
- Bitrate: For H.264 at 1080p and 30 fps, YouTube recommends 14 Mbps. This is an ingest recommendation, not a complete measure of the VM’s required network capacity. Allow headroom and verify that the actual path remains stable.
- Keyframes: YouTube recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed four seconds.
- Rate control: Use constant bitrate encoding as specified in YouTube’s guidance.
Test before relying on the stream
- Set the encoder’s output protocol, codec, resolution, frame rate, bitrate, keyframe interval and rate control to match YouTube’s current recommendations for your format.
- Enter YouTube’s stream URL and stream key in the encoder. The key identifies and authorizes the feed, so treat it like a password: restrict who can access it and rotate it if it is exposed. See YouTube’s guide to stream keys.
- Run a test with representative audio and movement, not just a static picture or silent feed. YouTube’s guidance specifically calls for testing with audio and motion like those expected in the stream.
- Monitor YouTube stream health during the test. Check that the feed arrives steadily and that the chosen settings work end to end from your intended source and region.
- Test recovery deliberately: stop and restart the encoder, and test the reconnect behavior you expect after a process or network interruption. Confirm that your monitoring detects a failed feed.
Plan for long-stream archives and copyright
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; its help page does not promise automatic archiving for streams longer than 12 hours. If keeping a full recording matters, plan an independent recording or another retention workflow instead of assuming an indefinitely long broadcast will be archived. See YouTube’s live-stream archiving guidance.
Only stream material you have the rights to use, including music, video and other audio. A continuous loop is still a public YouTube livestream, so check the rights and permissions for every item in a playlist. YouTube may identify copyrighted material or interrupt a stream; consult its copyright safety checklist before going live.

Common problems and fixes
| Symptom | Likely area to check | Useful next step |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube does not receive the feed | Stream URL, stream key, or encoder connection | Recheck the configured URL and key, confirm the correct stream is selected, and reconnect. Treat the key as a secret and replace it if exposed. |
| Stream health is poor or unstable | Bitrate versus the available network path | Compare the encoder setting with YouTube’s recommendation for your codec and format, leave network headroom, and test from the intended VM region. |
| Video fails to meet expected quality | Encoder capacity or mismatched settings | Verify codec, resolution and frame rate, then confirm the VM has enough CPU/GPU capacity if it is encoding rather than relaying. |
| Broadcast stops after a process or connection failure | Missing supervision or reconnect handling | Configure and test process restart, encoder reconnection and alerting. A running VM does not itself restart a failed encoder or restore a missing source. |
| A very long stream is not available as an archive | YouTube archive expectations | For a stream longer than 12 hours, use an independent recording or retention plan; YouTube’s stated automatic archive behavior applies to streams under 12 hours. |

What to do before choosing
- Define whether the cloud will encode a live source, relay an existing feed, or loop uploaded recordings.
- Set the target codec, resolution and frame rate, and identify where the source and intended audience are.
- Price the same 24/7 VM, disk and outbound transfer configuration in the candidate India regions, adding any GPU or other required service.
- Test a representative stream and measure stream health, then simulate process and network failures to check recovery and alerts.
- Choose the VM only after the test matches your quality and recovery needs; choose a managed loop service if you do not need a custom encoder workflow.
