Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minutePC Slower Than It Used to Be?
A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11In OBS, add the video and the music as separate Media Source sources, then enable Loop in each source’s properties. Each file will repeat independently. For a playlist of music or clips, use a VLC Video source instead; VLC must be installed and its bitness must match OBS.
Set up a single looping video and music track
- Add the video: In OBS, add a Media Source to the scene and select the video file. Open that source’s properties and turn on Loop. The documented default is Off.
- Add the music: Add a second Media Source and select the audio file. Turn on Loop in its properties too.
- Arrange and check the sources: Keep the video and music as separate sources so they can repeat independently. Confirm that the video is visible and the music is audible in OBS before streaming.
- Test the actual broadcast path: Make a private or unlisted stream check before going public. Verify that both picture and sound reach the intended YouTube output and that playback behaves as expected.
OBS documents local video extensions including MP4, TS, MOV, FLV, MKV, AVI, GIF, and WebM, and audio extensions including MP3, AAC, OGG, and WAV. File support and playback can depend on the file and installed OBS release, so test your actual media. See the OBS Media Sources documentation.
Use a playlist for multiple files
When you want several tracks or clips to play in sequence, add a VLC Video source and create its playlist rather than stacking separate looping sources for every file. OBS documents Loop Playlist as On by default and Shuffle Playlist as Off by default, so the expected starting behavior is ordered playback that repeats. Check the properties in your installed version if you want different behavior.
- VLC must be installed for the VLC Video source to appear.
- For 64-bit OBS, OBS specifies 64-bit VLC.
- Test transitions with your own files. The documented controls do not guarantee gapless playback between files or prescribe a video/audio synchronization method.
Check music rights before going live
A playback loop does not grant permission to use a track. Confirm with the rights holder or license provider that your rights cover the uses you intend, including live streaming, an archived broadcast, monetization, and the relevant territories. Check any attribution requirements and whether the owner must allowlist your channel in Content ID. A “royalty-free” label, credit in the description, or music subscription alone does not establish that these uses are covered.

YouTube says live streams are scanned for third-party content, including another live broadcast. If YouTube identifies a match, it may show a warning and replace the stream with a placeholder; if the content continues, the stream may be temporarily interrupted or terminated. YouTube advises creators with a license to ask the rights owner to add their channel to the Content ID allowlist. An archived live stream may also receive a Content ID claim after the broadcast. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
Troubleshoot playback and stream checks
- The file stops at the end: Open that source’s properties and confirm Loop is enabled. Video and audio sources have independent loop controls.
- The playlist option is missing: Install VLC. If you use 64-bit OBS, install 64-bit VLC as specified by OBS.
- Playlist order or repeat behavior is wrong: Check Shuffle Playlist and Loop Playlist in the VLC Video source properties; the documented defaults are shuffle Off and loop On.
- OBS plays the files but YouTube does not receive both: Run a private or unlisted stream check and verify the outgoing picture and sound. Do not assume that local preview alone confirms the broadcast output.
- The stream is warned, interrupted, or replaced by a placeholder: Treat this as a possible third-party-content match. Stop using the material unless you have the necessary rights, and contact the rights owner about Content ID allowlisting where applicable.
