For the simplest YouTube-only lo-fi radio setup, start with StreamNeo: upload a recording or playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and let it loop from the cloud. It runs with your computer off, supports uploaded video as made up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and includes automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. For a more hands-on setup, a cloud VM running an encoder can push RTMPS directly to YouTube; Wowza Video documents a managed 24×7 channel with YouTube output, while Amazon IVS and Google Cloud Live Stream API are broader video services rather than clearly documented turnkey YouTube relays.
Which cloud service fits a 24/7 YouTube lo-fi channel?
| Option | What it does | Best fit | Check before choosing |
|---|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo | Runs uploaded videos or a playlist continuously from the cloud to YouTube. | A creator who wants a YouTube-only loop without maintaining an encoder or computer. | It plays uploaded videos, not a live camera feed. Each slot includes 10 GB of pooled storage across active slots. |
| Cloud VM with an encoder | You operate an encoder on a virtual machine and send its live output to YouTube, preferably over RTMPS. | Operators comfortable managing media files, process restarts, monitoring, and monthly infrastructure costs. | Compute size, outbound network terms, reconnect behavior, monitoring, and source-media rights. |
| Wowza Video | Wowza documents both a 24×7 channel workflow and sending output to YouTube Live. | Creators looking for a managed service with an explicitly documented continuous-channel workflow. | 24×7 streaming is unavailable to trial accounts and must be enabled for the account. Confirm current plan, price, limits, and reconnection behavior. |
| Amazon IVS Low-Latency Streaming | A managed live video service with metered input and viewer output. | Architectures that need IVS video infrastructure and its viewer-delivery capabilities. | It does not support audio-only input in Low-Latency Streaming. Confirm whether a YouTube restream design is appropriate and price both input and output. |
| Google Cloud Live Stream API | Accepts RTMP or SRT input and produces HLS/DASH outputs. | Managed live transcoding and distribution architectures, not necessarily a single YouTube relay. | The documented overview describes HLS/DASH delivery, not a turnkey YouTube push; active sessions may be restarted after 24 hours. |
These options are not directly comparable by headline price: a YouTube encoder, a managed channel, and a service that also delivers video to viewers bill for different things. A universal cheapest provider cannot be identified without a specific resolution, bitrate, region, audience, and architecture. Provider pages establish capabilities and selected billing rules, not a guarantee that a particular channel will stay live without monitoring.
1. StreamNeo: simplest for a YouTube-only prerecorded loop
StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping an uploaded video or playlist live on YouTube around the clock. Add a YouTube stream key once, then StreamNeo loops the source from the cloud; your laptop, OBS, and home internet connection do not need to stay on. It is YouTube-only and does not broadcast a camera feed.
- One flat price per slot regardless of quality: uploaded files stream as made, up to 4K 60fps, with no re-encode or quality tiers.
- Each slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, looping and playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and StreamNeo team support.
- The first day is free, with no card required; one free day is available per account.
- Choose a day, week, month, six months, or year; cancel any time. UPI and cards are available in India, and card checkout is available worldwide. For five or more slots, contact support.
Every plan has the same product; only the billing length changes. See StreamNeo for details.

2. A cloud VM: flexible, but you operate the encoder
A virtual machine can run an encoder that repeatedly plays your lo-fi video and sends the live feed directly to YouTube. This gives you control over the files and process, but it makes you responsible for the encoder staying healthy, reconnecting after interruptions, and restarting after failure. The cited YouTube guidance supports encoder-based streaming and recommends RTMPS for encrypted ingest; it does not identify a particular VM size or promise that any configuration will operate unattended.
Plan the VM architecture
- Choose a region and VM based on the source resolution, frame rate, and encoder load; no universal machine size is established here.
- Keep the source media accessible to the VM and make sure the playlist can recover if a file is moved, corrupted, or unavailable.
- Configure a process supervisor or watchdog to restart the encoder, reconnect it to YouTube, and alert you when recovery fails.
- Budget for compute and network usage over a full month of channel hours, including periods with few or no viewers.
- Decide separately whether you need an independent recording. YouTube says streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured as an archive.
3. Wowza Video: documented managed 24×7 workflow
Wowza documents a 24×7 channel workflow and a separate procedure for sending its output to YouTube Live. This is the clearest documented managed-service match among the infrastructure options here. However, Wowza says the 24×7 feature is not available to trial accounts and must be enabled for the account. Its 24×7 channel instructions were updated June 12, 2025, and its YouTube output instructions February 24, 2025.

Before committing, ask Wowza to confirm account enablement, current plan and price, source-ingest choices, continuous-channel limits, and what happens if YouTube disconnects. Those details can determine whether it is practical for a single lo-fi outlet.
4. Amazon IVS: video infrastructure, not an audio-only radio relay
Amazon IVS Low-Latency Streaming accepts RTMP, RTMPS, or SRT ingest and documents H.264 video with AAC-LC audio. AWS says audio-only input is not supported in this mode, so an audio-only lo-fi stream is not a fit as-is; a video-bearing source is required. IVS separately meters live input and viewer output, which may add cost without helping a channel whose only destination is YouTube.

AWS documentation also recommends against third-party restreaming or forwarding in the cited configuration guidance. Confirm the intended architecture and current terms before using IVS as a relay to YouTube. Its pricing page describes a new-account Free Tier allowance of five hours of basic-channel live input and 100 hours of audio-only or SD output per month during the first 12 months. Eligibility and terms can change, and those output hours do not make audio-only input available in Low-Latency Streaming or establish a complete free 24/7 video channel.
5. Google Cloud Live Stream API: useful for HLS/DASH, with session restarts
Google Cloud Live Stream API accepts RTMP or SRT input and transcodes it to HLS/DASH outputs. That is useful for managed transcoding and distribution, but the documented product model is not a turnkey YouTube push. Verify how the complete design would get a feed to YouTube before selecting it.

Google says an active Live Stream API channel may be billed while active, with pricing based on configured input and output resolution plus distribution charges. An active session may be restarted after 24 hours, so plan a reconnect and restart process. Channel eligibility and ingest
- YouTube requires channel verification and no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days for live streaming. Follow YouTube’s current age and content rules.
- Use RTMPS when your encoder or service supports it; YouTube recommends encrypted ingest.
- Use YouTube’s current encoder settings for codec, bitrate, frame rate, and keyframe interval. Its settings page lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 support, but supported formats and recommendations can change.
- Keep your YouTube stream key private. Enter it only in the service or encoder that is meant to publish to your channel.
Music, visuals, and archives
- Confirm that the music, artwork, animation, and looped visuals are licensed for continuous public streaming. YouTube says, “All content in live streams must adhere to our Community Guidelines and Terms of Service.” The rights status of a particular lo-fi catalogue depends on its licenses; a genre label or a track’s availability online is not permission.
- If a complete recording matters, create a separate local or cloud recording workflow. YouTube recommends keeping a local archive backup and warns: “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” Its automatic archive guidance describes streams shorter than 12 hours.
How to compare real costs
Model the full month of channel hours and the exact resources your design uses, rather than comparing a VM rental with a managed service’s smallest advertised unit. Cloud services may charge while the channel is active even if the audience is small: Google states that an active Live Stream API channel may be billed, while IVS meters input and delivered output separately.
