No. Viewers cannot send Super Thanks while a YouTube livestream is live, even if it runs continuously. During an eligible live stream, viewers may instead be able to use Super Chat or Super Stickers. Afterward, Super Thanks may be available on the archived long-form video if the video and channel qualify.
What viewers can use while the stream is live
YouTube assigns different Supers features to different content states. Super Thanks is for eligible long-form videos and Shorts; Super Chat and Super Stickers are the live-stream options.

Availability of Super Chat and Super Stickers depends on eligibility and other restrictions. YouTube Live Chat is available on watch pages, not embedded players; some chat settings, such as subscriber-only chat, can also restrict who may participate.
Does a 24/7 stream change the rule?
No. YouTube’s Super Thanks eligibility guidance excludes “Live streams or Premieres, while live” and notes that Super Thanks may be available on archived long-form videos afterward. Continuous operation does not create an exception: while the broadcast is live, Super Thanks is unavailable.

Can viewers send Super Thanks on the replay?
Possibly. Once a stream has ended and its recording is available as an archived long-form video, that replay may qualify for Super Thanks. Archiving alone does not guarantee the button will appear; both the channel and the individual video must meet YouTube’s rules.
Video-level restrictions
YouTube lists age-restricted, unlisted, private, Made for Kids, copyright-claimed, and YouTube Giving fundraiser videos as ineligible. Videos with comments turned off are also ineligible. A live stream or Premiere is excluded while live, but its archived long-form video can qualify afterward if it passes the other checks.

Channel-level requirements
The creator must meet YouTube’s minimum fan-funding requirements, live in a supported location, comply with applicable terms and policies (including the Commerce Product Module where applicable), and avoid disqualifying channel conditions. YouTube gives Made for Kids channels and channels with a significant number of ineligible videos as examples; some music channels may also be ineligible.
Creators can check for access in YouTube Studio: open Earn and look for the Supers tab. Its presence indicates access to Supers tools, but it does not make every video eligible.

Super Thanks is not a donation button
YouTube Help describes Super Thanks as a way for viewers to show extra gratitude and explicitly says it “isn’t a crowdfunding or donation tool.” That distinction matters for creators planning how to describe support options to viewers.
