To schedule several prerecorded videos as a YouTube livestream in Restream, go to Home → Pre-recorded livestream → Playlist, choose or upload the files, click Next, arrange their order, then select Schedule and enter the event details. The playlist is a scheduled livestream made from video files—not a regular YouTube watch playlist—and Restream says it starts automatically at the scheduled time.
Check access and YouTube requirements first
Restream’s playlist instructions say the feature requires an Upload & Stream add-on tier: Marathon or Media. This is separate from Restream’s general event-scheduling availability on all plans; general scheduling access does not by itself mean you can create a playlist.
Before setting up the event, confirm that YouTube live streaming is enabled for your channel. Restream says first-time enablement requires phone verification and a 24-hour wait before streaming. Its connection instructions also say to connect as the channel owner, rather than as a manager or editor. See Restream’s YouTube live-streaming requirements.
Create and schedule the playlist
- Open the playlist creator. In Restream, go to Home → Pre-recorded livestream → Playlist.
- Select or upload videos. Choose existing files or upload new ones, then click Next.
- Arrange the sequence. Drag and drop files into the order you want them to play. Restream also allows you to add more files or a countdown, and customize designs, captions, and QR codes.
- Preview the stream. Check the sequence and any graphics before scheduling.
- Enter event details. Click Schedule, then provide the title, description, date, and time. Activate or select the YouTube channel for the event. Restream lists YouTube limits of 100 characters for the title and 5,000 for the description.
- Schedule and share. Once created, use the channel icons on the playlist’s Home card to copy the event link. Restream says the YouTube playlist starts automatically at its scheduled time; the usual documented YouTube playlist workflow does not require you to press Go Live manually.
Know the playlist limits before you commit
- A playlist can contain up to 40 video entries and run for up to 24 hours total.
- You can duplicate files in a playlist. You can add, remove, or reorder videos only before the playlist goes live.
- Once playback begins, the playlist’s video contents cannot be changed; Restream says graphics and chat remain editable.
- Playlists cannot combine prerecorded files with live segments. Restream suggests using videos in Studio if the show needs both prerecorded and live portions.

Compare the library allowance with the total runtime you need to store, and the resolution ceiling with your source files. The 24-hour playlist maximum is distinct from the tier’s video-library limit.
Edit, reschedule, or cancel a scheduled playlist
Before broadcast, open the playlist’s card on Home and use its menu to edit or reschedule the event, or unschedule it. If you shared announcement posts on YouTube or another supported platform, unscheduling the Restream event does not automatically remove those posts; delete them on the platform separately if needed. After the playlist starts, you cannot revise its video contents.

Use an existing YouTube event
Restream documents an option to select an existing scheduled YouTube event from the YouTube channel’s Event dropdown while configuring a stream. Events created through the YouTube mobile app are not supported in that connection workflow. See Restream’s YouTube channel connection instructions.
When a playlist is not the right workflow
Use Restream’s Playlist when the entire scheduled show is a sequence of prerecorded files. If you need to insert live segments, use Studio instead; Restream says playlists cannot currently mix live and prerecorded content. For a normal YouTube watch playlist rather than a livestream made from files, create and manage that playlist in YouTube rather than using Restream’s prerecorded livestream feature.
