You can run a continuous Shiv bhajan livestream on YouTube with an encoder, a verified channel, music and visual rights that cover the broadcast, and a reliable upload connection. Create or schedule an encoder stream in YouTube Studio, enter its stream URL and key in your software or hardware encoder, test the feed, then monitor it and plan how to recover from interruptions. YouTube does not guarantee uninterrupted 24/7 operation, and a broadcast longer than 12 hours may not be archived.
What you need before starting
- A YouTube channel that is verified and has had no live-streaming restriction in the past 90 days. First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, according to YouTube Help.
- An encoder: streaming software on a computer or a standalone hardware encoder. YouTube supports both; a dedicated device is optional. See YouTube’s encoder guidance.
- Shiv bhajan recordings and visuals that you have the rights to livestream and, if you plan to keep a replay, archive.
- An upload connection with headroom above the encoder’s total bitrate, plus a way to monitor the stream and respond if it fails.
Clear rights for the music and visuals
Do not assume a bhajan is free to use because it is devotional, old, traditional, or familiar. A composition, a modern arrangement or performance, a particular sound recording, and artwork can involve different rights. Permission for one does not necessarily clear the others, and rights may vary by territory.
YouTube’s livestream terms make the provider responsible for having the rights needed to exploit live content on Google services worldwide, including applicable music licensing rights: YouTube Terms of Service. Use recordings and visuals your channel owns or has permission to stream and archive, and keep written records of licenses and permissions.
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. It may issue a warning, replace the live picture with a placeholder, or interrupt or terminate the stream if the content remains. Even licensed content may need the rights holder to allowlist your channel through Content ID. Check the process with the rights holder before going live; YouTube explains the enforcement and allowlisting issue here.

Choose an encoder and a stream format
Software encoder
A software encoder uses a computer to send the video and audio feed to YouTube. It is a practical starting point if you already have suitable equipment and can keep the computer, encoder, and network connection running. Plan for software or operating-system updates, power interruptions, and a restart or recovery procedure.
Standalone hardware encoder
A hardware encoder is a separate device for encoding and sending a feed. It may suit a production that already uses dedicated video equipment, but it is not a YouTube requirement. Check that the device accepts your actual audio and video inputs and fits your ingest setup before buying one.

A still devotional image or a sequence of visuals can be used as the picture, but the format itself does not guarantee reach or performance. Clear the rights to every visual, and test that the audio and picture remain as intended during a long run.
Create the YouTube stream and connect the encoder
- Open YouTube Studio and create or schedule an encoder stream. Select the live-streaming setup for an encoder rather than starting a camera broadcast.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key from YouTube Studio. In your encoder’s streaming or destination settings, paste them into the corresponding server/URL and key fields. YouTube describes the stream key as the credential that lets an encoder send a feed to the channel, so do not share it publicly. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in Studio before continuing.
- Set the video codec, resolution, frame rate, and bitrate in the encoder. Use a stable setting your equipment and upload connection can sustain. YouTube’s current recommended H.264 bitrates include 3 Mbps for 480p at 30 fps, 6 Mbps for 720p at 30 fps, and 10 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps. These are platform recommendations, not a promise that your connection will hold them; consult the current YouTube encoder settings for the exact resolution, frame rate, and codec you select.
- Start the encoder and check YouTube Studio’s preview and stream health. Confirm that the sound is audible and clean, the picture is moving or displaying as intended, and the stream appears on its watch page before treating setup as complete.
Set bitrate and bandwidth for a long broadcast
Choose a bitrate according to the chosen resolution and frame rate, then test it on the actual connection that will carry the stream. YouTube recommends that available upload bandwidth exceed the stream’s total bitrate; it recommends about 20% headroom. For example, a 6 Mbps stream calls for roughly 7.2 Mbps of available upload capacity under that guidance. This is headroom, not a guarantee of stability: other household or office traffic, Wi-Fi changes, and provider fluctuations can still cause drops.

If the stream health indicator reports an unstable connection, lower the bitrate or resolution to a level the link can sustain, or improve the connection. Prefer a wired connection when practical, and avoid relying on an untested network path for an unattended broadcast. Check the current bitrate recommendations in YouTube’s settings table rather than treating one setting as universal.
Test monitoring, recovery, and recording before going 24/7
- Run a test broadcast and verify the watch page, audio level, image, and stream-health status from another device or connection.
- Test what happens after an encoder restart, brief network interruption, or power loss. Know who will notice an interruption and how the encoder will be restarted.
- Monitor audio as well as the picture: a stream can remain connected while playback stops, becomes silent, or repeats incorrectly.
- Keep a local recording if you need a dependable archive. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all; see YouTube’s live-stream archiving guidance.
For a continuous channel, plan how to split or restart a broadcast before it reaches 12 hours if you need a YouTube replay, and do not treat that as a substitute for keeping your own recording. The official guidance does not establish a special YouTube archive mode for uninterrupted 24/7 streams.
