First check whether the silence is on your end or in the broadcast: unmute the YouTube player, check your device’s sound output, and play another YouTube video. If other videos have sound but this Gurbani stream is silent on more than one device, the problem may be with the stream, not your equipment.
Find out where the sound is failing
Use these comparisons to narrow down the problem before changing settings or buying equipment. They help identify the likely fault area, but do not prove its exact cause.
- One video versus all YouTube videos: If other YouTube videos have sound on the same device, focus on this live stream. If YouTube and other audio sources are silent, check the device or app.
- One device versus several: If the stream is silent on multiple supported devices while other videos play normally, a stream-side issue becomes more likely.
- One viewer versus several: If several viewers on different connections report silence, the operator should prioritize broadcast-side checks.
- Encoder preview versus published stream: If the encoder preview is silent, check the audio source and routing. If it sounds normal but the YouTube broadcast does not, check the live stream health information and connection.
The title alone does not identify a particular channel or current broadcast, so it cannot establish that the broadcaster is at fault. YouTube’s general playback guidance recommends checking browser or device volume, sound settings, and restarting the browser or device (YouTube Help: How to fix no sound on YouTube).
If you are watching the stream
- Unmute the YouTube player. Check the speaker icon in the player and raise its volume.
- Check the app or browser and device volume. Confirm that sound is not muted and that the output is set to the speakers or headphones you intend to use.
- Test other audio. Play another YouTube video and an audio source in another app. If both work, the issue may be specific to this stream.
- Refresh YouTube. Reopen the stream; if sound is still missing, restart the browser or app and then the device.
- Try another supported device. If the stream remains silent there while other videos play, contact the channel or stream operator. Include the stream link and the approximate time you noticed the silence.
YouTube also recommends reopening or updating the app or browser and testing another supported device when playback issues persist (YouTube Help: Troubleshoot streaming & video issues – Computer).

If you operate the Gurbani broadcast
- Listen to the encoder preview while live. If it is silent, inspect the audio source feeding the encoder. Check that the intended input is selected, active, unmuted, and routed to the stream.
- Check audio configuration and live health. Review the encoder’s audio settings and YouTube Live Control Room health information. YouTube’s developer documentation describes an audio configuration issue in which the incoming stream has no audio stream (Google for Developers: Configuration Issues for LiveStream Resources).
- Compare the encoder output with the published stream. If the local preview or recording is silent, focus on the audio source and routing. If it sounds healthy but viewers hear silence, check the live dashboard and outbound internet connection. YouTube’s live-stream troubleshooting guidance recommends using encoder preview and stream health to help isolate problems (YouTube Help: Troubleshoot your YouTube live stream).
- Check software-specific support when relevant. YouTube advises contacting the support team for third-party streaming software if you use it without a stream key (YouTube Help: Troubleshoot your YouTube live stream).
- Use viewer reports as a clue. If people on different connections report the same silence, prioritize the broadcast path rather than asking each viewer to troubleshoot their device.
