YouTube’s podcast RSS feature is available to channel owners in India, but submitting an RSS feed does not create a live stream. It publishes podcast episodes as videos with static show art. To broadcast an episode or podcast continuously as a live event, create a YouTube broadcast and send it audio and video from a live encoder. Use RSS for automatic episode uploads; use an encoder for a scheduled or continuous broadcast.
RSS episode uploads and live broadcasts are different
YouTube uses podcast show art to make a static-image video for each episode selected from an RSS feed. It can also upload new feed episodes automatically. These are individual episode videos, not a continuous broadcast. See YouTube’s RSS podcast delivery guidance.
A live broadcast is an event viewers can watch as it happens. It uses a broadcast associated with a live stream that carries the actual audio-video feed. YouTube Studio can be used to create or schedule a broadcast; the Live Streaming API can also create and associate broadcast and stream resources. Details are in Google’s guide to broadcasts and streams.
Is podcast RSS delivery available in India?
Yes. India appears in YouTube’s list of locations where channel owners can use RSS feed delivery. Availability is based on the channel owner’s location, so check the country setting for the YouTube channel you plan to use. See YouTube’s RSS availability list.

How to submit a podcast RSS feed to YouTube
- Sign in to YouTube Studio. Choose Create, then New podcast, then Submit RSS feed.
- Accept the RSS ingestion terms and enter your podcast’s feed URL.
- Request a verification code. YouTube sends it to the email address listed in the RSS feed; enter the code in Studio. If you do not know or cannot access that address, contact your podcast hosting provider.
- Choose which episodes to submit: all existing episodes, episodes from a selected date, or future episodes only.
- Review the visibility settings and save. Initial feed uploads can take a few days; YouTube emails you when the podcast is ready to publish.
For the current interface and publishing details, see YouTube’s instructions for publishing or disconnecting RSS episodes.
How to broadcast podcast audio as a YouTube live stream
This workflow sends a live audio-video feed to a YouTube broadcast. It does not make YouTube read and replay episodes directly from the RSS feed. For an audio-only show, provide a visual track as well—for example, a still image, waveform, or branded visual. YouTube’s documentation establishes that a live stream carries audio-video, but does not prescribe a particular visual design.

- Create or schedule the event. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live broadcast and open its stream settings. The broadcast is the event; the associated live stream carries the feed. Developers automating this workflow can use the Live Streaming API to create, bind, and manage those resources.
- Set up a live encoder. Configure an encoder or streaming service to send the podcast audio and visual track to the broadcast’s stream ingestion endpoint. Follow the current YouTube-compatible settings for the encoder and delivery protocol you choose.
- Choose a supported delivery protocol. YouTube documents RTMPS, HLS, and DASH for encoder delivery. Their technical requirements differ; use the guide for the protocol your encoder supports: RTMPS, HLS, or DASH.
- Check the preview and stream health. Confirm in Studio that the incoming picture and sound are correct before the event begins. YouTube’s API documentation describes stream status and health information for diagnosing delivery problems; consult the encoder and Studio indicators if the feed is not arriving as expected.
Choose the workflow that matches your goal
| Goal | Use | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Publish episodes when they appear in the feed | RSS delivery in YouTube Studio | Uploads selected episodes as individual videos with static show art. |
| Broadcast at a particular time or continuously | YouTube live broadcast plus an encoder | Sends a live audio-video feed to an event; it requires encoder and protocol setup. |
Publishing, ownership, and policy checks
- Make sure you can receive mail at the address listed in the RSS feed, or arrange verification help through the podcast host.
- YouTube’s RSS best-practice guidance says podcast content submitted through RSS cannot contain advertisements. It separately requires host-read promotions, sponsorships, and endorsements to be disclosed as branded content and to comply with applicable policies. Review the current RSS guidance before publishing.
- Review episodes and live material for copyright and monetization issues before making them public. Having a feed or permission to distribute an episode does not by itself establish that every included element is cleared for YouTube.
- Keep the RSS and live workflows’ editing consequences in mind: once an RSS-uploaded episode is published, its audio cannot simply be updated in place. Re-uploading it from RSS creates a new video and makes the old one private. Back-catalogue episodes added later do not trigger subscriber notifications.
