The most straightforward way to broadcast a prerecorded store ad on YouTube Live in India is to feed the video file into a software encoder, then connect that encoder to a stream created in YouTube Studio. A dedicated hardware encoder is optional. Before going live, rehearse the full program and clear rights for every visual and audio element, including music.
How to stream a prerecorded ad on YouTube Live
- Enable live streaming. In YouTube Studio, enable live streaming for the channel. YouTube says first-time activation may take up to 24 hours, so do not leave this until the planned broadcast time. YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance covers the process.
- Create or schedule the broadcast. Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and create a stream or schedule one. YouTube provides the stream URL and stream key used by your encoder. Keep the key private: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a stream to your channel.
- Choose an encoder. YouTube supports both software and hardware encoders. For a basic computer-based setup, use a software encoder that can take a video file as its source. Consider dedicated hardware only if your production has a specific need for separate equipment or external video and audio connections; YouTube does not require it.
- Set the prerecorded ad as the encoder’s video source. The exact media-source and repeat controls depend on the encoder you choose, not on YouTube Studio. Check that the picture fills the intended frame, the audio is audible and in sync, and playback behaves as intended. If you plan to repeat the ad, confirm the encoder can do so and test what happens at the end of the file.
- Connect and verify the feed. Enter YouTube’s stream URL and key in the encoder. For a scheduled broadcast, wait for the preview to appear in Live Control Room before starting the live broadcast. YouTube creates a watch page when the encoder starts sending video; use Live Control Room to manage the scheduled broadcast and end it when finished.
- Rehearse before the public broadcast. Run the complete ad in a private or otherwise controlled rehearsal. Check picture, sound, aspect ratio, playback continuity, and any planned repeat behavior. Confirm the stream reaches YouTube before relying on it for a promotion.
- Review the ad’s rights and territory requirements. Check that you have the necessary rights for every image, video, logo, voice and music element, and that those rights cover the planned use and territory. YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility for necessary rights and applicable requirements in the live-stream territory on the provider. Read YouTube’s terms and get jurisdiction-specific advice for the actual store, product, claims and distribution plan where needed.
Can you loop store ads on YouTube Live?
You can arrange repeating playback in the encoder if the software or hardware you choose supports it. YouTube’s stream setup supplies the connection to Live Control Room; it does not determine how the encoder handles a file ending or loops it. Test the repeat behavior in rehearsal rather than assuming it will continue seamlessly. The sources do not establish an officially endorsed 24/7 workflow for prerecorded ads, so plan the operation around the encoder and the broadcast you actually intend to run.
Choose an encoder workflow that fits the broadcast
| Option | What it means | When it may fit |
|---|---|---|
| Software encoder | A computer runs the encoder and supplies the prerecorded file as its video source. YouTube supports software encoders; the exact playback and loop controls vary by application. | A basic computer-based playback setup when it meets the production’s needs. |
| Hardware encoder | A dedicated device sends the stream to YouTube. YouTube supports hardware encoders, but does not require one. | A production with a specific operational need for dedicated equipment, external video or audio hardware, or additional production control. |
The cited YouTube guidance does not establish comparative costs or operational complexity for these options. Choose based on the equipment and controls the particular broadcast needs, not on an assumption that hardware is mandatory.
Rights, Content ID and monetization
Clear the complete program
Permission to use the ad itself does not necessarily cover every element inside it. Check rights for music and other audiovisual material, including any third-party footage, images, logos or voices, and confirm the permission applies to the intended use and geography. YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions make the provider responsible for necessary rights and requirements applicable in the live-stream territory.

Content ID outcomes can vary by region
A Content ID claim may block a video, monetize it for the rights holder, or track its viewership. The result can differ by country or region, so a claim is not automatically harmless and a stream should not be assumed viewable everywhere. YouTube explains Content ID claims and their effects.
Promotion and YouTube ad revenue are different goals
Broadcasting your store’s own prerecorded commercial is not the same as having YouTube serve ads around a live stream. An eligible monetized channel can enable live-stream ads, but YouTube does not guarantee that an ad will be served to each viewer. See YouTube’s live-stream monetization guidance.

YouTube’s reused-content policy also applies to live streams. It looks for significant original commentary, substantive modification, or educational or entertainment value. That policy is separate from copyright permission: having the rights to a plain promotional spot does not itself establish eligibility for YouTube Partner Program monetization. A store should not assume that repeatedly broadcasting an unmodified ad will qualify. Review YouTube’s channel monetization policies.
India-specific checks before broadcasting
YouTube’s terms require compliance with requirements applicable in the live-stream territory, but they do not determine which Indian legal or regulatory requirements apply to a particular store, product category, advertising claim or distribution plan. Avoid assuming that no approval is needed. Identify the facts of the specific campaign and seek jurisdiction-specific review where appropriate.

Troubleshooting a prerecorded YouTube Live ad
- Live streaming is not available yet: first-time channel activation can take up to 24 hours. Enable the feature ahead of the event rather than troubleshooting at the last minute.
- The encoder is not reaching YouTube: verify that you copied the stream URL and key from the intended stream in Live Control Room, and check that the encoder is sending its feed. Treat the stream key like a password.
- No preview appears for a scheduled broadcast: check the encoder connection and wait for the preview in Live Control Room before starting the broadcast.
- The ad stops or fails to repeat: inspect the encoder’s file-source and repeat settings. Looping behavior is controlled by the encoder and varies by product; rehearse the full playback to confirm it.
- Viewers in some places cannot watch: a Content ID claim can have different effects by territory, including blocking. Review the claim and the geographic scope of the relevant rights rather than assuming the stream is available worldwide.
- The channel is not earning from the ad stream: distinguish the store’s own commercial from YouTube-served ads. Ad delivery is not guaranteed for every viewer, and a plain repeated promotional spot should not be assumed to meet reused-content monetization rules.
