Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteTo loop a video on YouTube Live with FFmpeg, use -stream_loop -1 to repeat the input, -re to feed it in real time, and the RTMP or RTMPS ingest URL and stream key from YouTube Studio. The steps are the same in India as elsewhere; YouTube’s published guidance does not specify India-only FFmpeg settings. First confirm the channel can livestream, then test the encoder preview and your actual upload connection before going live.
1. Check that the channel can livestream
YouTube’s general guidance says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. The minimum age to livestream is 16. Review YouTube’s live-streaming requirements and confirm eligibility in the account you plan to use.
2. Get the ingest URL and stream key
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go live.
- In Live Control Room, open the Stream tab, then create or select a stream.
- Copy the server URL and stream key shown for that stream. Use the exact ingest address YouTube provides; do not assume a particular RTMP or RTMPS base URL.
YouTube calls stream keys “like your YouTube stream’s password and address.” Keep the key private: do not post it in a public command, screenshot, script, or shared shell history. If it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room. See YouTube’s encoder setup instructions and stream settings guidance.
3. Prepare FFmpeg and the video
Use an FFmpeg build that includes the encoders named in your command. Check that the video file exists and that its audio and video play as expected. The command below re-encodes video to H.264 and audio to AAC, then sends the output as FLV. It is an illustrative starting point, not a tested command or a bitrate guarantee for your connection.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Example for a 30 fps source
ffmpeg -stream_loop -1 -re -i "/path/to/video.mp4"
-c:v libx264 -preset veryfast -b:v 4500k -maxrate 4500k -bufsize 9000k
-pix_fmt yuv420p -g 60 -keyint_min 60 -sc_threshold 0
-c:a aac -b:a 128k -ar 44100
-f flv "<YOUTUBE_RTMP_OR_RTMPS_INGEST_URL>/<STREAM_KEY>"
- Replace the file path and both ingest placeholders with the real values for your setup. The URL format must match the one displayed in Live Control Room.
-stream_loop -1repeats the input indefinitely.-rereads the file at its native frame rate, which is useful when sending a file as a live feed. See the FFmpeg command-line documentation.-g 60and-keyint_min 60correspond to a two-second keyframe interval for a 30 fps output. Adjust them for the output frame rate; for example, two seconds at 60 fps is 120 frames.- The sample bitrate is not universal. Select a resolution and frame rate your source and connection can sustain, then choose bitrate settings appropriate to that output. YouTube publishes ranges by resolution and frame rate in its encoder settings guidance.
- If the stream key contains special characters or your shell interprets characters in the URL, follow your shell’s quoting rules. Avoid putting the real key in a command that will be published or shared.
FFmpeg’s formats documentation shows an RTMP example using H.264, AAC, FLV, and explicit audio and video mapping. The example above assumes re-encoding; it does not establish that an arbitrary source can safely be sent with stream copy instead.
4. Match YouTube’s settings and your connection
YouTube’s encoder guidance supports RTMP/RTMPS with H.264, H.265, or AV1 video, frame rates up to 60 fps, constant bitrate (CBR), AAC or MP3 audio, and a recommended two-second keyframe interval that should not exceed four seconds. It recommends RTMPS for encrypted delivery when supported. H.264 with AAC is a broadly compatible starting combination, but match the output dimensions and frame rate to the source and your available bandwidth.

YouTube recommends that available outbound upload bandwidth exceed the total stream bitrate, with 20% headroom. For example, a stream using 4,500 kbps needs more than 5,400 kbps of available upload capacity to preserve that recommended margin. This is a planning calculation, not a guarantee of stable delivery. Shared networks can reduce the capacity available to your stream, so test the actual connection at the place and time you intend to broadcast. YouTube’s streaming tips recommend a reliable connection; no India-wide upload-speed figure is established by that guidance.
5. Start the stream and verify it
- Start FFmpeg with the completed command and watch its output for connection or encoding errors.
- In Live Control Room, wait for the incoming preview. Check that both picture and audio are present and that the stream is stable.
- For a scheduled stream, select Go live in Live Control Room after checking the preview. Starting the encoder and publishing the scheduled broadcast are separate steps.
- Open the watch page and verify playback from the viewer side. Monitor the stream rather than assuming a successful encoder connection means viewers can see and hear it correctly.
YouTube’s streaming tips recommend setting up at least two hours before an event and starting the encoder at least 15 minutes before its scheduled time. These are operational recommendations, not FFmpeg requirements.

6. Stop the loop and plan for interruptions
When you are finished, stop the stream through YouTube and stop FFmpeg. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived; do not assume an indefinite FFmpeg loop can remain live forever. Plan for computer, network, encoder, or platform interruptions and check the broadcast after stopping.
Common problems and fixes
- No connection or YouTube receives no feed: Recheck the exact server URL and stream key in Live Control Room, confirm the scheduled stream is the one selected, and check FFmpeg’s error output. Reset the key if you may have exposed it.
- Preview connects but video or audio is missing: Confirm the input file has the expected streams and that FFmpeg is mapping or encoding them. FFmpeg’s format examples show explicit mapping; a malformed or audio-free source may need a different command.
- Dropped frames or unstable delivery: Check available upload capacity during the intended streaming period, account for YouTube’s 20% headroom recommendation, and reduce output resolution, frame rate, or bitrate if the connection cannot sustain the chosen settings.
- Keyframe or encoder warnings: Verify that the output keyframe interval is about two seconds and no more than four seconds, and check that the selected codec and pixel format are supported by your FFmpeg build.
- The command exits or the loop does not continue: Confirm the input path is valid and that
-stream_loop -1appears before the input option-i. Check FFmpeg output for file-read or encoder errors. - FFmpeg is sending, but the broadcast is not public: Check Live Control Room’s preview and publishing status; a scheduled stream may require you to select Go live there.
