What’s actually slowing this PC down?

If your YouTube live stream is dropping frames on JioFiber, first identify where the loss occurs: in the encoder, on the connection from your home to YouTube, or only for viewers. Then compare your available upload bandwidth with the full stream bitrate, test Ethernet against Wi-Fi, and use MyJio diagnostics if the evidence points to the broadband connection. A viewer’s playback buffering is a different problem from dropped frames in your outgoing stream.
First identify which frames are dropping
“Dropped frames” describes a symptom, not its cause. Before changing settings, note the exact warning, where it appears, and when it occurs. The distinction matters: an encoder warning, a YouTube Live Control Room health error, and a report from one viewer call for different checks.
- Encoder statistics: Check your streaming software’s statistics for rendering, encoding, or network drops. Rendering or encoding trouble can point to the computer or encoder; network drops point toward delivery from your setup. The labels vary by encoder.
- YouTube Live Control Room: Check the stream-health indicator and record any error. YouTube’s health guidance covers ingestion problems such as an incorrect bitrate or keyframe interval.
- Local recording or preview: If the local recording or encoder preview is already choppy, investigate the source, encoder load, or computer before blaming JioFiber. YouTube also recommends checking encoder load and the local archive when a stream looks or sounds poor.
- Viewer reports: Ask whether the problem affects one viewer, several viewers on one shared connection, or viewers on separate connections. YouTube treats these as clues: one viewer may have a device or network issue, viewers sharing a connection may point to that network, and reports across different connections may point to the stream or encoder. These patterns are not proof by themselves.
Write down the warning and its timestamp before troubleshooting. That gives you something concrete to compare after each change. See YouTube’s live streaming error messages and live stream troubleshooting guidance.
Check whether your upload can sustain the stream
A download-speed result, or the advertised speed of a JioFiber plan, does not establish how much reliable upload capacity is available to a live stream. Run an upload test under conditions representative of the broadcast: use the same computer, the same connection location, and—if possible—a time when household network use resembles the planned stream.

- Measure upload speed and note whether it remains stable, rather than recording only its highest result.
- Add the bitrate of every outgoing stream. If you send a primary and backup stream, count both.
- Compare that total with the upload capacity the connection can actually sustain. YouTube recommends leaving 20% headroom; its guidance says the total stream bitrate should not exceed available upload bandwidth.
- Repeat the test if other people or devices are using the connection. Household traffic can reduce the capacity left for streaming.
There is no single minimum JioFiber plan speed established here for every live stream. The suitable upload depends on the stream’s resolution, frame rate, codec, bitrate, and stability. YouTube’s streaming tips explain the upload-bandwidth margin.
Match encoder settings to the available upload
Compare the encoder’s codec, resolution, frame rate, and bitrate with YouTube’s current encoder settings and bitrate recommendations. These H.264 examples are YouTube recommendations, not guarantees that a particular connection can carry them reliably:

| Resolution and frame rate | YouTube-recommended H.264 bitrate |
|---|---|
| 720p at 30 fps | 6 Mbps |
| 720p at 60 fps | 8 Mbps |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 14 Mbps |
| 1080p at 60 fps | 17 Mbps |
YouTube’s recommendations differ for AV1 and H.265, so use the row for your actual codec rather than treating the H.264 figures as universal. If available upload cannot sustain the selected setting with the recommended headroom, lower the bitrate or resolution; YouTube’s error guidance specifically recommends lowering resolution when bandwidth is insufficient.
- Rate control: YouTube recommends constant bitrate (CBR).
- Keyframes: Use a two-second keyframe interval; do not exceed four seconds.
- Test content: Test with audio and movement similar to the planned stream. A static screen is not a representative test for a fast-moving game.
Change one setting at a time, then check encoder statistics and YouTube’s stream-health indicator during a test. If the local recording is clean but YouTube reports ingestion trouble, concentrate on the outgoing settings and connection rather than assuming the game capture is faulty.

Compare Ethernet with Wi-Fi
Connect the streaming computer to the JioFiber gateway with Ethernet and repeat a comparable unlisted test using the same encoder settings. YouTube recommends Ethernet for computer live streaming, and Jio describes a wired LAN connection as a stable option. A better result over Ethernet points toward a Wi-Fi limitation; it does not by itself prove that every part of the ISP connection is fault-free.
If Ethernet improves the test, check the Wi-Fi conditions before buying equipment:

- Run a comparison near the gateway and from the actual streaming location.
- Consider distance, walls, router placement, nearby routers, and the number of connected devices.
- Jio advises placing the gateway centrally in an open area. It lists an extender or mesh Wi-Fi as possible options for larger homes, but these address coverage limitations—not an encoder configuration error or a YouTube ingestion issue.
For Jio’s coverage guidance, see Jio Home Gateway Wi-Fi coverage. Check that the computer and gateway have compatible ports and use a cable long enough to reach without strain; a cable helps isolate Wi-Fi but cannot repair a broadband service fault.

- Open Home.
- Tap JioCare.
- Open Run Diagnostics.
- Review the result and follow the app’s suggested steps.
Jio says the tool checks network health, router status, Wi-Fi strength, and device connectivity. It may identify issues including weak signal, an offline router, loose cables, speed drops, or configuration errors, and can offer guided actions such as restarting the router, improving placement, or checking cables. App navigation can change, so follow the labels currently shown in MyJio. See Jio’s Run Diagnostics FAQ and Run Diagnostics on JioFiber Network.
If the app does not resolve the issue, keep the diagnostic result along with the times and results of your upload and wired tests, then raise a service request through Jio’s current app or website channel. YouTube likewise advises contacting the ISP when connection testing finds internet problems. Do not infer that JioFiber is generally responsible for dropped frames: the official sources cited here do not establish a statistic for how often YouTube Live streams carried by JioFiber drop frames or what causes those incidents.
Run an unlisted test before the real stream
Before a scheduled broadcast, test the complete setup with YouTube’s visibility set to Unlisted. Use the intended game or other representative content, audio, resolution, frame rate, and encoder settings. Watch both the encoder’s statistics and YouTube Live Control Room health, and check the local recording afterward. If you change a setting or switch from Wi-Fi to Ethernet, repeat the test and note the result; changing one variable at a time makes the comparison useful.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep a prerecorded YouTube stream running rather than go live from a camera, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos or playlists from the cloud. The setup is: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, then go live. Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream, and uploaded video streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot. The first day is free with no card; the Monthly price is $9.99 per month. This is for prerecorded video on YouTube, not camera streaming. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
