Yes. Subscribers who join your channel through a 24/7 YouTube livestream count toward your channel’s subscriber total. But subscribers alone do not qualify you for monetization: you must also meet the relevant watch-hour or Shorts-view threshold, satisfy YouTube’s account and policy requirements, complete signup, and pass channel review.
Which YouTube monetization threshold applies?
As of October 3, 2026, YouTube describes two levels creators may encounter. The lower expanded YouTube Partner Program (YPP) entry level can unlock selected features in eligible regions; the higher threshold is the route associated with Watch Page Ads, Shorts Feed Ads, and YouTube Premium revenue. Feature availability and individual requirements vary.

These thresholds are from YouTube’s eligibility pages accessed October 3, 2026. The subscriber threshold is channel-level: YouTube does not list subscribers gained during livestreams as excluded. Do watch hours from a 24/7 livestream count?
They can. For the watch-hour route, YouTube counts qualified hours from long-form videos set to public. Its eligibility guidance specifically excludes livestreams that are unlisted, deleted, or not converted to video on demand (VOD). A public livestream with a replay converted to VOD can therefore contribute qualified watch hours; YouTube’s guidance does not identify 24/7 duration itself as disqualifying.

- Public stream and replay converted to VOD: watch time may qualify, subject to YouTube’s normal eligibility rules.
- Unlisted stream, deleted stream, or stream not converted to VOD: its hours are excluded from the qualified watch-hour tally.
A high subscriber count does not make excluded livestream hours count, and qualifying watch time does not replace the subscriber requirement. The two parts of the applicable route must both be met.
Does reaching the numbers guarantee monetization?
No. Meeting a numeric threshold makes a channel eligible to apply; it does not automatically enroll or approve it. YouTube requires creators to complete signup and reviews the channel as a whole for compliance with monetization policies. Eligibility also depends on conditions such as being in a supported country or region and maintaining required account settings. A scheduled threshold change takes effect in 2027
YouTube’s update page announces that, beginning February 1, 2027, new creators’ ad and Premium entry thresholds will change to 1,000 subscribers plus either 8,000 qualified watch hours in the prior 365 days or 20 million qualified Shorts views in the prior 90 days. This is a future change as of October 3, 2026; it is not the threshold currently in force on that date.
