YouTube excludes livestreams that are unlisted, deleted, or not converted to VOD. Running continuously does not by itself guarantee that the hours qualify.
When livestream watch time can count
YouTube’s YPP threshold is based on qualified watch hours from public long-form videos. A livestream can contribute in principle when it is public and its archive is available as a VOD. The rule applies to a 24/7 stream through its public status and VOD conversion; YouTube does not describe a separate eligibility rule for streams simply because they run continuously.
YouTube Help, in its “YouTube Partner Program overview & eligibility” guidance, specifically excludes “Livestreams that are unlisted, deleted, or not converted to VOD (video on demand).”
Which stream and archive states qualify?

How to check your channel’s progress
- In YouTube Studio, open the Earn area.
- Check the eligibility progress shown for your channel. Use this figure rather than assuming a general watch-time total elsewhere is the qualified YPP count.
- Confirm that the stream is public and that its archive is available as a VOD. YouTube’s eligibility guidance does not specify archive-processing times or guarantee that a particular stream’s hours will be credited.
Current YPP watch-hour thresholds
YouTube lists a higher tier for ad-revenue eligibility and a separate earlier-access tier in eligible countries and regions. They have different requirements and unlock different features.

Meeting a displayed threshold makes a channel eligible to apply; it does not guarantee acceptance. YouTube reviews the channel for compliance with its monetization policies. YouTube Help also announces YPP term updates beginning February 1, 2027, so check the current eligibility guidance if applying on or after that date.
Keeping a 24/7 stream online is separate from qualifying for YPP
A cloud service can keep uploaded videos looping to YouTube without leaving a computer running, but uninterrupted broadcasting does not override YouTube’s public-status and VOD rules. No. The threshold allows the channel to apply; YouTube reviews it for compliance with monetization policies.
