Best Free Tools for 24/7 YouTube Streaming From Pre-Recorded Videos

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

OBS Studio is the clearest no-license-cost option for streaming pre-recorded videos continuously on YouTube, but it is not a free cloud host: your computer and internet connection must keep running. The researched cloud services do not establish a lasting free 24/7 plan. Streamloop’s signup credits cover roughly an hour at standard quality, while OneStream Live’s documented free plan limits prerecorded streams to 15 minutes and does not support playlists.

If you want the stream to keep running without leaving a computer on, StreamNeo is the first cloud option to consider: it loops uploaded videos on YouTube, supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and gives new accounts a free first day.

Which free tool can actually stream prerecorded videos 24/7?

For a no-license-cost do-it-yourself setup, start with OBS Studio. YouTube lists OBS as open-source software available at no charge. OBS sends a broadcast from your computer to YouTube; it does not provide an always-on cloud machine. That means the computer, OBS, and internet connection need to remain available for the broadcast to continue. Electricity, bandwidth, and the time needed to supervise or recover a local setup may still have a cost.

For a hosted service, distinguish a short free trial or limited free tier from a genuinely continuous free plan. The documented offers below do not establish free, uninterrupted 24/7 operation.

  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Options for a free or low-cost 24/7 stream

StreamNeo Cloud service for looping uploaded videos and playlists on YouTube, with a free first day for new accounts and no card required. It supports uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot. First in this list for a hosted continuous stream, but the free period is one day, not a permanent free plan. The stream runs in the cloud rather than from your computer. StreamNeo
OBS Studio YouTube lists OBS as open-source and available at no charge. YouTube supports software encoders connected using its server URL and a stream key. The software has no license fee, but you provide the computer and connection. The available sources do not establish a turnkey unattended playlist-loop or automatic recovery workflow.
Streamloop The vendor says the service runs streams in the cloud and that signup credits provide approximately one hour of standard-quality streaming. Its page says a stream pauses when credits run out. Useful as a short trial, not evidence of free 24/7 service. The runtime is the vendor’s estimate, not an independently measured result.
OneStream Live Its Help Center page, last updated August 24, 2026, says the free plan is available indefinitely, but caps prerecorded streams at 15 minutes, limits resolution to 720p, and does not include playlist streaming. Those stated free-plan limits do not fit a continuous prerecorded playlist loop.
Gyre YouTube’s verified-encoder directory describes Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 prerecorded YouTube streams. The directory description does not establish a free plan or current price. Check its current terms before treating it as a free option.

These are descriptions published by YouTube or the services themselves, not comparative reliability tests. The available evidence does not establish which provider has the best uptime or recovery performance. Before relying on any hosted tool, check whether it loops playlists, what happens after a disconnect or exhausted trial credits, and whether it automatically restarts a stream.

How to set up a free local stream with OBS

YouTube describes an encoder as software or hardware that converts video into a digital format for streaming. Its encoder guide explains how to connect an encoder using the YouTube server URL and stream key. Follow the current YouTube and OBS screens; labels can change.

  1. Enable live streaming on your YouTube channel. YouTube says first-time enablement can take up to 24 hours, so complete this before scheduling a broadcast.
  2. Prepare the prerecorded video. Check that you have the rights to use both its picture and audio, and decide whether you are broadcasting one file or arranging a playlist. The available sources do not establish a specific OBS playlist or looping workflow, so verify that the method you choose can keep the content moving through the planned broadcast.
  3. Install and open OBS Studio. YouTube lists OBS as open-source and available at no charge. Configure the video source and audio in OBS, then confirm that the preview shows the intended content.
  4. Get the connection details in YouTube Studio. Open the live-stream setup for the broadcast and obtain the server URL and stream key. YouTube’s encoder guide identifies these as the details needed to connect an encoder.
  5. Connect OBS to YouTube. In OBS, open Settings > Stream, choose YouTube as the service if available, and enter or connect the stream key as prompted. Use YouTube’s server URL if the selected connection method asks for it. Keep the key private: anyone who obtains it may be able to broadcast to your stream.
  6. Check the stream before leaving it unattended. Confirm the correct video and audio in the preview, start the stream, and verify that YouTube is receiving it. A local encoder depends on the computer and connection remaining available; plan how you will notice and address interruptions.

YouTube’s encoder guide lists supported encoder recommendations and connection guidance. Use the current recommendations there for resolution, bitrate, and keyframe interval rather than assuming one setting fits every video, connection, and channel. The sources reviewed for this article do not establish a single bitrate or resolution setting for this particular setup.

Check YouTube eligibility, concurrency, and content rules

  • Live access: YouTube says first-time live-stream enablement can take up to 24 hours.
  • Age: YouTube’s live-stream help page currently states a minimum age of 16 for live streaming.
  • Concurrency: YouTube documents a maximum of 10 active streams per channel and three per stream key.
  • Content: YouTube says live streams must comply with its Community Guidelines and may be removed or restricted if they violate its rules. Use video and audio you own or are otherwise cleared to broadcast; a video being publicly available does not by itself establish permission to rebroadcast it.
  • Audience and monetization: A continuous stream does not guarantee discovery, watch time, monetization eligibility, or a particular audience size.

What to verify before choosing any tool

  • Runtime: Is the free allowance a brief trial, a capped duration per stream, or genuinely continuous? Check whether streams pause when credits expire.
  • Loop and playlist support: Can the tool repeat a single video or cycle through a playlist without manual intervention? OneStream’s documented free plan does not include playlist streaming.
  • Resolution and source handling: Check the free-plan cap and whether the service changes the uploaded video. Do not assume that “free” includes the quality you need.
  • Recovery: Ask what happens if YouTube disconnects the encoder, the computer loses internet, or the cloud service loses its connection. The sources compared here do not provide a basis for ranking reliability.
  • Operational cost: A free software download does not cover the cost of keeping a computer powered and connected. Compare that with a cloud service if you need the stream to continue while your equipment is off.
