No—not as a share of YouTube ad revenue. YouTube may show ads on a channel that is not in the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), but a channel that has not met the higher YPP ad-revenue requirements is not eligible to receive a share of those ads. Streaming continuously does not change that rule.
Why ads can appear without earnings
YouTube retains the right to serve ads on content across the platform, including content from channels outside YPP. Seeing an ad on your stream or its replay therefore does not mean your channel is earning from it. YouTube Help explains that channels below the applicable eligibility criteria are “not yet eligible to receive a share of the revenue.”
A 24/7 schedule is not a monetization shortcut. The relevant conditions are YPP eligibility and acceptance, the required monetization terms, and monetization being enabled for the stream—not how many hours it runs.
What a channel needs to earn live-stream ad revenue
- Meet the higher YPP ad-revenue threshold. YouTube’s eligibility guidance, accessed October 3, 2026, lists 1,000 subscribers and either 4,000 qualified public watch hours on long-form videos in the previous 365 days or 10 million qualified public Shorts views in the previous 90 days. - Apply and pass the channel review. Reaching a numerical threshold is not automatic acceptance. YouTube reviews channels against its monetization policies.
- Complete YPP signup. This includes agreeing to applicable terms and linking an AdSense for YouTube account.
- Accept the Watch Page Monetization Module. This module is required for Watch Page ad and YouTube Premium revenue from long-form and live-stream videos. Read about YouTube monetization modules.
- Enable monetization on the live stream. YouTube says pre-roll and display ads are automatically enabled when live-stream monetization is turned on. Mid-roll ads can be automatic, scheduled at selected intervals, or inserted manually. See YouTube’s live-stream monetization guidance.
- Comply with monetization and advertiser-friendly policies. These policies apply to live streams as well as other video formats. Review YouTube’s channel monetization policies.
When livestream watch hours count toward eligibility
A public livestream that is retained as a video on demand (VOD) may contribute qualified watch hours, subject to YouTube’s other rules. YouTube excludes livestreams that are unlisted, deleted, or not converted to VOD from qualified public watch hours. The fact that a stream runs for many hours does not by itself make those hours eligible.

Ads and revenue are not guaranteed by runtime
Even for an eligible, accepted YPP channel with monetization enabled, YouTube warns that “Ad slots are not guaranteed to serve ads.” Pre-roll and display ads are enabled with live-stream monetization; mid-rolls offer automatic, scheduled, and manual options. Neither a 24/7 runtime nor enabling ads guarantees a particular ad frequency or amount of revenue. YouTube’s live-stream monetization page explains the available controls and limitation.
