Schedule each event in YouTube Studio, then use FFmpeg to send the matching feed to its stream URL and key. The steps are the same for creators in India as elsewhere in the reviewed YouTube documentation; there is no separate India-only scheduling path identified. Before configuring FFmpeg, decide whether you need events at different times, simultaneous distinct programs, or the same program duplicated to multiple destinations.
Understand what you are scheduling
YouTube Studio creates and schedules the event. FFmpeg encodes and sends media to that event; creating an event does not start the encoder or make the event live.
- Separate events at different times: Schedule each event in Studio and start the appropriate FFmpeg feed for each event when needed.
- Simultaneous distinct programs: Each event needs its own intended feed and matching destination credentials. Separate inputs, outputs, or encoding configurations may be required.
- One identical program sent to multiple events: FFmpeg’s tee muxer can send one encoded program to multiple outputs, avoiding repeated encoding of the same audio and video. You still need explicit stream mappings and output format settings.
YouTube Help currently states limits of 10 active streams per channel and 3 active streams per stream key. These are active-stream limits, not limits on how many future events you may schedule. Check the current Live Control Room for your channel’s available options.
Prepare the YouTube channel and events
Enable live streaming ahead of time
Enable live streaming on a verified channel before your event. YouTube says first-time enablement may take at least 24 hours, and the channel must have no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility and enablement guidance.

Schedule each event in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and select Create → Go Live → Manage → Schedule Stream.
- Create an event or reuse settings, then enter its metadata and scheduled time and save.
- Repeat for every event you intend to run. Scheduling creates the event and its watch page; it does not launch FFmpeg.
Studio labels can change. YouTube’s current workflow is described in its live-streaming setup guidance.
Retrieve the right ingest details for every event
In Live Control Room, retrieve the stream URL and stream key associated with each scheduled feed. Match each FFmpeg output to the intended event. A stream key is a credential: YouTube describes stream keys as “like your YouTube stream’s password and address.” Do not publish or share it. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in Studio before streaming. See Manage live stream settings.
Use a distinct destination/key for a distinct scheduled feed. For a duplicated identical feed, configure each output with the destination details shown for its event; do not assume one key can serve every event.

Configure FFmpeg for one or multiple outputs
Choose the output design
- Same encoded feed to several destinations: Use the tee muxer when every destination receives the same audio/video. Tee writes the shared encode to multiple outputs.
- Different content or output settings: Configure separate outputs and the necessary input mappings and encoding. Different resolutions, bitrates, layouts, or source material can require separate processing; a shared output path does not remove that work.
FFmpeg’s tee muxer is a pseudo-muxer. It does not select streams automatically, so specify the intended streams with -map and provide output format options for slave outputs when needed. Consult the FFmpeg tee muxer documentation and FFmpeg command-line documentation for the syntax supported by your installed build.
There is no safe universal command to paste without knowing your input, number of feeds, keys, codecs and FFmpeg build. Treat the following as a configuration checklist, not a complete command:
- Identify the input file or live input and the audio/video streams to send.
- Map the required streams explicitly for each output.
- Choose the codec, resolution, frame rate, bitrate and keyframe interval according to YouTube’s current recommendations and the actual content.
- For tee, specify each destination and any required slave-output format. Protect keys in shell history, scripts, logs and shared configuration.
- For distinct feeds, account for each encode’s CPU/GPU demand and total outbound bitrate.
FFmpeg supports multiple command-line outputs, but one process is not guaranteed to fit every computer or internet connection. YouTube’s current encoder guidance covers recommended live encoder settings.

Use the ingest protocol shown in Studio
Prefer RTMPS when your FFmpeg build and workflow support it. YouTube describes RTMPS as RTMP over TLS/SSL. Copy the RTMPS address from the Live Control Room rather than guessing a server URL; confirm that your installed FFmpeg supports the protocol and configured output. See YouTube encoder settings.
Start, preview and take each event live
- Start FFmpeg early enough for YouTube to receive the feed and populate the event preview. YouTube advises starting the encoder at least 15 minutes before the scheduled time.
- Open the corresponding event in Live Control Room and check that its preview appears and the stream-quality indicators are acceptable.
- When the event is ready, select Go live in Studio if the event is not configured to start automatically.
- Monitor every event while it is live. For multiple outputs, verify each destination separately rather than assuming one successful output means all are healthy.
- Test failover before the event and monitor stream quality during it, as YouTube recommends in its streaming tips.
Plan capacity for streams from India
The reviewed official YouTube instructions do not identify a separate India-only scheduling process. Your channel’s eligibility, Studio controls and ingest details are what matter. Test the actual upload route you will use and calculate the combined outbound bitrate for simultaneous outputs. A single shared encode duplicated to destinations still consumes outbound capacity for those destinations; distinct encodes also add processing load. Do not assume a country label establishes account eligibility or network capacity.

- Measure whether the available upload connection can carry the combined stream bitrate with headroom.
- Use a wired Ethernet connection if practical; it can help avoid some local wireless variability, but it cannot guarantee sufficient bandwidth or prevent outages.
- Test the complete setup, including each event key and output, before the scheduled broadcast.
Common problems and fixes
No preview appears in Studio
Check that FFmpeg is running, the output uses the URL and key for this exact event, and the configured protocol and output format are supported by your FFmpeg build. Allow time for the preview to appear, then inspect FFmpeg output for connection or encoding errors.

The wrong event receives the feed
Stop the mismatched output and compare its URL/key with the intended event’s Live Control Room details. Keep event credentials labelled securely so that simultaneous feeds are not accidentally crossed.
Tee output fails or carries no audio/video
Set explicit -map options for the streams you intend to send and declare the required format for each tee slave output. Consult the FFmpeg tee documentation for the exact syntax applicable to your build.
One or more streams stutter or drop
Check the per-output bitrate and total upload demand, then compare them with the available sustained upload capacity. For distinct feeds, also check CPU/GPU load. Lowering output demands or reducing the number of simultaneous feeds may be necessary; test changes before the event.

The channel cannot go live yet
Check channel verification, live-streaming enablement and any restrictions shown in Studio. First-time activation may take at least 24 hours, and YouTube’s eligibility guidance includes a restriction-free preceding 90-day period.
Copyright and YouTube policy checks
Scheduling and encoding do not grant rights to the material in a broadcast. Use content you own or are authorized to stream, including music, game footage and other included media. Review YouTube’s copyright guidance and YouTube channel monetization policies, including their reused-content rules if monetization matters. A stream that is technically live can still face claims, restrictions or monetization consequences under YouTube’s policies.
