How to Schedule Different Videos on a 24/7 YouTube Livestream

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

To play different prerecorded videos in sequence on one continuous YouTube livestream, schedule the YouTube broadcast separately from the playlist. YouTube Studio sets up the live event; an encoder or hosted streaming service must play your video files in order and send their output to YouTube. Scheduling a broadcast alone does not queue multiple videos.

What you need to schedule

Think of the setup as two parts: a YouTube broadcast, which has its visibility and start time, and a playback system, which produces the continuous stream from your videos. That playback system can run on your computer or in a hosted service.

YouTube’s Live Streaming API can schedule and manage broadcast and stream resources, but it is not itself a playlist player (YouTube Live Streaming API reference). For a standard setup, use YouTube’s current Live Control Room and connect an encoder or compatible service.

Check channel eligibility and video rights

  • Confirm livestream access. YouTube’s getting-started guidance says the channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. Its general guidance also sets a minimum age of 16 for livestreaming. Check the current requirements in YouTube’s live-streaming guide.
  • Choose visibility. Decide whether the broadcast should be public, unlisted, or private in the current YouTube Studio controls.
  • Check rights for every item. Make sure you have the rights or permission needed to stream each video, including its music and other included material. A sequence of prerecorded videos is still a live broadcast for this purpose; scheduling it does not grant rights or prevent a copyright claim.
  • Review the sequence. Write down the order, expected transitions, and whether the final video should lead back to the first. Check audio levels and any gaps between files before relying on an unattended run.

Option 1: Run the playlist from your own computer

A local encoder workflow gives you direct control, but the computer, encoder, and network connection must remain available for the stream. OBS is one possible encoder; its official help portal covers streaming support, but exact playlist controls depend on the current OBS version and workflow. Follow the current OBS documentation rather than relying on unverified button names (OBS Project Help Portal).

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
  1. Prepare your media sequence. Organize the files in the intended order and configure a local playback workflow that can continue from one file to the next. Check that the selected playback method actually sends each video’s picture and sound to the encoder.
  2. Create or schedule the YouTube broadcast. In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, configure the event and its visibility using the current controls. Keep the broadcast details available while you connect the encoder.
  3. Connect the encoder to YouTube. Use the stream connection details shown in Live Control Room and the encoder’s current YouTube setup. Keep the stream key private; anyone who obtains it may be able to send content to your stream.
  4. Preview before starting. YouTube recommends setting up encoder streams in advance, checking the preview before going live, and monitoring audio and video quality (YouTube live streaming tips). Confirm that the preview shows the intended first video and that audio is present.
  5. Start and monitor the run. Check that transitions occur in the intended order and that the broadcast remains connected. A local setup depends on the computer and network continuing to operate; test the full sequence and decide how you will respond if playback or the connection stops.

Local setup checklist

  • The channel is eligible to livestream and the event has the intended visibility.
  • The playlist order, video, transitions, and audio have been checked.
  • The encoder is connected to the correct YouTube stream.
  • The Live Control Room preview works before the broadcast starts.
  • You have a way to monitor interruptions and restart or recover the stream if needed.

Option 2: Use a hosted playlist service

A hosted service runs the playlist and sends the stream from its own infrastructure, rather than relying on your personal computer to stay on. Workflow, schedule length, monitoring, recovery, and plan eligibility vary by provider, so check each provider’s current terms before committing.

  1. Upload or select the videos. Use the service’s supported storage options and arrange the files in the required playback order.
  2. Connect your YouTube channel. Follow the provider’s authorization and stream setup steps; check which channel and broadcast the playlist will use.
  3. Set the stream details and schedule. Configure the broadcast information, start time, and duration available on that service’s plan.
  4. Test the output. Preview the stream if the provider offers that control, verify video order and sound, and establish how you will notice and handle a failure.

For example, OneStream Live’s help page describes selecting videos from a device, its storage, or cloud storage, connecting a YouTube channel, entering stream details, and scheduling a 24-hour broadcast. The vendor’s page, last updated September 3, 2026, states that this feature requires its Enterprise plan and that a stream can run for up to 30 days. Those are OneStream Live terms, not YouTube-wide limits; confirm them on its current help page.

Looping Stream also describes cloud playlist streaming for continuous YouTube broadcasts. Its service page does not establish enough detail to compare its plan limits, monitoring, or recovery with other services, so verify those points directly before choosing it.

Which approach fits?

Consideration Local encoder Hosted playlist service
Where playback runs Your computer and encoder. The provider’s hosted service.
Playlist setup Configure and maintain the local playback workflow. Select or upload videos and schedule through the provider’s workflow.
What must stay available Your computer, encoder, and network connection. The hosted service; check its monitoring and interruption-recovery terms.
Duration Depends on YouTube’s current limits and your setup; confirm current archive behavior. Provider-specific. OneStream Live states a 30-day maximum for its 24-hour feature.
Cost and terms Hardware, power, and network costs may apply. Plan eligibility and usage terms vary; check them with the provider.
Connection protocol Use a protocol supported by the encoder and YouTube. Confirm the provider’s protocol and YouTube compatibility.

Protocol note: HLS settings are not universal

Only apply these requirements if your encoder or service is using HLS ingestion. YouTube documents HLS segments of 1–4 seconds, TS segment format, no byte-range support, a rolling playlist with no more than five outstanding segments, HTTPS POST/PUT, and encryption only through HTTPS. YouTube also notes that HLS has higher latency than RTMP because HLS sends segments rather than a continuous stream. Do not change settings to match HLS requirements when your setup uses another protocol; see YouTube’s HLS setup guide.

Common problems and what to check

  • YouTube shows a scheduled event, but no videos play. Scheduling creates the broadcast; it does not create playlist playback. Configure an encoder or hosted playlist service to send the video sequence.
  • The preview is blank or the stream does not connect. Check the encoder connection details and stream key, confirm that the encoder is sending, and verify the selected protocol is supported by your setup.
  • Only the first video plays. Check the local playback workflow or hosted playlist configuration for its end-of-file behavior and sequence order. Confirm the next item is actually part of the stream output.
  • There is no sound or it changes between videos. Check the audio source and levels across each file, then listen to the preview before starting the broadcast.
  • The stream stops during an unattended run. On a local setup, check whether the computer, encoder, or connection stopped. On a hosted setup, check the provider’s status and documented recovery controls. Plan how you will monitor and respond; neither scheduling nor a test guarantees uninterrupted operation.
  • The provider will not accept the requested duration. Check plan eligibility and maximum schedule length. These are provider-specific limits and can change.
