Build the logo and ticker into the video before it reaches YouTube. For a live encoder workflow, use OBS Studio: add the recording as a Media Source, place an Image Source logo and a Text Source or Browser Source ticker above it, then send the finished scene to YouTube using the stream URL and key from YouTube Studio. YouTube’s encoder setup connects your stream; the graphics are composed in OBS.
Choose how to make the finished composition
For hands-on control while broadcasting, OBS Studio combines the recording and graphics in a scene, then sends that scene to YouTube as an encoder stream. Your computer and internet connection need to remain available for that route.
A cloud route is different: prepare a finished video that already contains its logo and ticker, then use a service that plays uploaded videos. OneStream Live’s documented prerecorded-video workflow allows an image logo overlay and scheduling, but its cited guide does not establish ticker support. Do not assume the logo workflow also adds a scrolling ticker.
YouTube Studio’s encoder setup is not the place to compose these graphics. If you need the logo or ticker to appear in the outgoing picture, include them in the encoder scene or in the video file itself.

Prepare the logo, ticker, and recording
Logo
Use a transparent PNG if you want the gameplay or other footage to show around the logo. OBS also supports image formats such as JPG and GIF; transparency depends on the image format.
Ticker text
Write the line before building the scene. Keep it concise enough to read at the output size, and check that it does not cover important gameplay, subtitles, or other on-screen information. A ticker containing changing details needs a source that can present those updates; a fixed text source will not automatically create a scrolling effect.

Video and audio
Keep the recording in a format OBS Media Source supports, including MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, and WebM. Decide whether the file should play once or repeat: enable looping only if you want it to repeat. Check both picture and audio before sending the stream.
Build the overlay scene in OBS Studio
- Create or select a scene. In OBS, use the Scenes panel to choose a scene for this broadcast.
- Add the prerecorded video. In Sources, select the add control and choose Media Source. Select the recording, then check playback and audio. Enable looping only if the stream should repeat the file.
- Add the logo. Add an Image Source, select the logo file, and resize and position it in the preview.
- Add the ticker. Add a Text Source for fixed text; OBS documents an option to read text from a file. For a custom or web-based layout, add a Browser Source that displays a local page or URL. OBS documents these source types, but not a built-in scrolling-ticker recipe, so the scrolling effect depends on the page or graphics treatment you use.
- Set the layer order. In the Sources list, place the logo and ticker above the Media Source. Sources higher in the list appear over sources below them. Drag the elements in the preview to place them, then check the full frame at the intended output dimensions.
- Review the composition. Confirm that the logo is visible, the ticker can be read, and neither blocks important imagery. Play the recording through a representative section and check that the audio remains correct.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or select the stream.
- In OBS, select YouTube as the streaming service if it is available in your setup. Otherwise, enter YouTube’s stream URL and the matching stream key in OBS’s streaming settings.
- Keep the stream key private. It authorizes an encoder to send video to your stream.
- Start the encoder output in OBS and check the incoming preview in Live Control Room. Complete the broadcast steps required by the stream setup you selected.
- Before a scheduled broadcast, test the scene for a few minutes in an appropriate test, private, or unlisted workflow. Verify playback, audio, overlay placement, and ticker content.
Make a ticker that actually moves
OBS Text Source is useful for fixed text, including text read from a file; the cited OBS documentation does not describe a built-in scrolling-ticker control. To make text scroll, use a Browser Source displaying a page or graphic treatment that supplies the movement, or prepare the ticker as part of the video before streaming. Preview the result in OBS and make sure it remains legible across the whole frame.

Check copyright and YouTube’s live-stream rules
- Only stream footage, music, images, and ticker content that you have the rights or permission to use. A gameplay recording does not automatically grant rights to background music or other third-party material in it.
- Adding a logo or ticker does not change the rights status of the underlying recording. Review YouTube’s applicable copyright and live-stream requirements for your channel and content before going live.
- For gameplay, check that the ticker does not obscure important information or mislead viewers about what is happening in the recording.
- YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume that the same archive behavior applies to streams lasting 12 hours or longer.

The logo or ticker is hidden
Check the order in the Sources list. Move the Image Source and ticker source above the Media Source, then reposition them in the preview.

The ticker appears but does not scroll
A Text Source can display text, but the cited OBS guide does not promise a built-in scrolling effect. Use a Browser Source with a page or layout that provides movement, or render the ticker into the recording before streaming.
The recording does not repeat
Open the Media Source settings and enable looping if you want the file to play again after it ends. If you want a single play-through, leave looping disabled.

YouTube receives no encoder video
Check that OBS is using the stream URL and stream key for the selected YouTube stream. Confirm that encoder output has started in OBS, then look for the incoming preview in Live Control Room. Keep the key private.
The overlay is hard to read or covers the action
Review the full composition at the intended output dimensions. Resize or move the logo and ticker, shorten the ticker line, or change its placement so important gameplay and text remain visible.
