Yes. YouTube’s published limits allow up to 10 active streams per channel and up to 3 active streams per stream key, with both limits applying at once. Two simultaneous gaming VOD streams fit within those caps if no other active streams use the available capacity. That does not guarantee a particular setup will run continuously or that either 24/7 broadcast will be saved as one complete VOD.
What YouTube’s stream limits mean for two broadcasts
YouTube Help states that a channel can have up to 10 active streams and a stream key can be used for up to 3 active streams. The limits apply concurrently, so two feeds fit the documented count limits as long as the channel and the keys you use have room. These are platform concurrency caps, not a promise of uninterrupted service or a recommendation for a particular encoder topology. YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility and limits may change, so check the current page when setting up.
Gaming is an intended encoder use: YouTube describes encoder streaming for gameplay and other advanced productions. The basic workflow is to create each stream in Live Control Room, copy its server URL and stream key into the encoder sending that feed, then start the encoder. YouTube’s encoder instructions cover the setup. The published limits do not specify whether one computer, two software encoders, or particular hardware can reliably maintain both feeds around the clock.
Set up and check each feed
- Confirm channel eligibility. YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Its getting-started guidance also says livestreamers must be at least 16. These eligibility checks are separate from the concurrent-stream caps. Review YouTube’s getting-started guidance before scheduling either broadcast.
- Create a separate Live Control Room stream for each feed. Give each stream a clear title and configuration so you can identify which encoder output belongs to which broadcast. Copy the appropriate server URL and stream key into the encoder assigned to that feed. Treat stream keys as credentials: do not share them publicly, and reset a key if it is exposed.
- Check how the keys are used. A key can support up to 3 active streams, but the channel-wide cap of 10 still applies. Keep the two feeds’ intended configurations clear and avoid starting extra tests or duplicate outputs that consume capacity.
- Preview and monitor both streams. Test each feed before relying on it, inspect the Live Control Room preview and stream health, and monitor the encoders and network. YouTube recommends testing and monitoring encoder streams; the guidance does not guarantee that any particular combination will recover from a failure automatically. Plan around the 12-hour VOD archive caveat
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its cited encoder instructions do not promise that a continuous 24/7 broadcast will be archived as one complete VOD. If preserving the full gameplay loop matters, do not assume the automatic archive will cover the whole broadcast; verify current YouTube behavior and arrange a separate recording or archive workflow that meets your needs. Ending and recreating streams to work around duration or reliability needs has its own constraint: YouTube confirms that a channel is limited in how many live streams it can create in a 24-hour period, but the cited error guidance does not give a numeric quota. Do not assume the active-stream cap tells you how many daily creations are allowed. Check YouTube’s live-stream error guidance if stream creation is blocked.
Check rights for the game, music, and other material
You need the rights to broadcast the gameplay and any music or other third-party material included in the loop. The answer can vary by game and rights holder; YouTube’s general live-stream settings information points to Content ID and rights-policy controls but does not establish a universal license for gameplay. Check the publisher’s current streaming policy and the rights for any included audio before going live. YouTube’s live-stream settings guidance explains relevant platform controls.

If YouTube applies a live-stream restriction, its guidance says you cannot evade it by switching to another channel to livestream. Resolve the restriction through the applicable YouTube process instead of trying to route around it. YouTube’s live-streaming tips cover restrictions and eligibility.

Troubleshoot common setup problems
- You cannot start another feed: Check whether the channel already has 10 active streams or the key already has 3. Stop unused streams and verify that each encoder is using the intended key. If YouTube reports a daily creation limit, the cited guidance confirms such a limit but does not state its numeric quota. Consult YouTube’s error messages.
- The encoder does not connect: Recheck the server URL and stream key copied from Live Control Room, confirm you selected the correct stream, and check the encoder’s connection and YouTube’s preview. Avoid exposing the key; replace it if you suspect it has been compromised. YouTube’s encoder workflow shows where those values fit.
- The feed starts but becomes unstable: Test and monitor each encoder output and the network rather than treating the concurrency cap as a reliability guarantee. Review stream health in Live Control Room and isolate whether the issue affects one feed or both. YouTube recommends testing and monitoring.
- The complete 24-hour broadcast is not in the archive: The documented automatic-archive condition applies to streams under 12 hours; the cited instructions do not promise one complete archive for a 24/7 stream. Use an archive plan that does not depend on that unsupported assumption.
- A stream is blocked for policy reasons: Confirm channel eligibility and review the restriction notice. Do not use a second channel to evade an active livestream restriction; check game and audio rights separately.
