You can add an end screen to a 24/7 stream’s replay if the archived video is available in YouTube Studio and its Editor offers the End screen control. In the replay’s Editor, add a Video or Playlist element, set its timing and placement, preview it, and save. YouTube does not explicitly guarantee that every livestream archive has this control, so check the specific archive before planning around it.
Can you add an end screen to a 24/7 livestream archive?
End screens are configured on videos in YouTube Studio. YouTube’s instructions explain the general video workflow and separately explain how to manage livestream archives, but they do not say that every archived livestream exposes the End screen editor. Treat availability as something to verify on the individual replay, not a guaranteed feature.
There is a separate limitation for very long broadcasts: YouTube says a stream shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. A continuous 24/7 broadcast therefore should not be assumed to produce one complete replay with an ending where an end screen can appear. YouTube recommends keeping a local archive as a backup. See YouTube’s archive live streams guidance.
How to add an end screen to an available replay
- Find the archived stream. In YouTube Studio, open Content and locate the replay. You can also find live content from the Live tab; archive visibility can be managed in Studio.
- Open the Editor. Select the replay, choose Editor from the left menu, then select End screen.
- Add the next-watch element. Choose Video to feature a specific video, a recent upload, or a video YouTube selects for the viewer. Choose Playlist to direct viewers to a public playlist. Other available element types include subscribe, channel, and—if eligible—an external website.
- Set timing and placement. Position the element in the ending and place it where it will not cover important on-screen information.
- Preview and save. Check that the end screen is legible and that its elements appear where intended, then save your changes.
- Check performance. In the video’s Engagement analytics, look for End screen element click rate. Channel-level Analytics also offers cards for top element types and videos by end-screen activity.
For the Studio workflow and element choices, see YouTube Help: Add end screens to videos.

End-screen rules that affect stream replays
- Duration: End screens occupy the final 5–20 seconds of a video, and the video must be at least 25 seconds long.
- Element count: Standard 16:9 videos can have up to four elements. Other aspect ratios may allow fewer.
- Viewer and format availability: End screens are unavailable on videos set as made for kids and in some contexts, including the YouTube Music app, Flash videos, mobile web, and 360 videos. Viewers can hide end screens, and how they appear can vary by device and context.
- Replay length: A broadcast beyond 12 hours may not be archived by YouTube at all. Even when a replay exists, check whether it exposes the End screen control in Studio.
These are YouTube’s published product rules, not guarantees about how often viewers will see or click an element. The platform’s end-screen guidance has the current eligibility and display details.
Choose a video, playlist, or live handoff
Use a single Video element when there is one natural next watch, such as a related game guide or the next installment in a series. A Playlist element is more appropriate when viewers should continue through an ordered sequence; the destination playlist must be public.

If the goal is to send a live audience to another live stream or a Premiere when the current broadcast ends, consider YouTube Live Redirect instead. It is a separate live-event handoff, not an end-screen element configured on a replay. See YouTube’s Live Redirect guidance.
If the archive has no End screen option
If the replay’s Studio Editor does not show End screen, the official guidance does not document an archive-specific workaround. Do not assume a control is available just because it appears for other videos. One practical alternative is to make a separate edited video with a suitable ending and configure its end screen, but that is not documented as an official workaround for livestream archives.
