No—not as a documented Larix Broadcaster feature. Softvelum’s materials describe Larix as a mobile encoder for sending live video to YouTube, but do not document choosing prerecorded files or looping a playlist in the app. That is a distinction between what the reviewed official materials establish and every possible behavior in every app version; it is not a claim based on hands-on testing. Softvelum’s Larix documentation is the place to check current product guidance.
What Larix Broadcaster does—and does not document
Larix Broadcaster is presented as a mobile live encoder: it captures live video and sends it to a streaming destination. That can make it useful for broadcasting from a phone, but it does not establish that the app can play uploaded video files as a continuous live program.
The official materials reviewed explain connecting Larix to YouTube Live; they do not document selecting prerecorded clips, building a playlist, or setting clips to repeat inside Larix. So if your goal is a 24/7 stream made from prerecorded videos, do not plan on Larix alone providing the playout function.
How a Larix-to-YouTube connection works
YouTube provides a server URL and stream key for an encoder. You enter those details in the encoder to send a live signal to your channel. YouTube’s current instructions say, “To start streaming, enter your YouTube Live server URL and stream key into your encoder.” See YouTube Help’s encoder setup guide.

Softvelum’s 2019 Larix guide gives rtmp://a.rtmp.youtube.com/live2 as an example server and describes combining the server URL with the stream name/key for Larix’s single connection URL. Treat that as an example, not a substitute for the values shown in your current YouTube Studio stream setup: Softvelum’s Larix-to-YouTube guide.
- In YouTube Studio, create or open the live stream setup and retrieve the server URL and stream key YouTube displays for it.
- In Larix, configure the encoder connection with the current YouTube details, following Larix’s current documentation. Do not expose or share your stream key; it authorizes a broadcast to your channel.
- Start a live camera or other live input and confirm that YouTube receives it. A successful connection proves the live-encoding path works; it does not add prerecorded-file looping to Larix.
A server-side option for looping prerecorded videos
Softvelum documents Nimble Streamer Playout as a separate server-side workflow for building live output from VOD files and live sources. Its playlist configuration supports repeating VOD playback. This is not a Larix setting and requires more setup than connecting a phone app: Nimble Streamer Playout documentation.

Softvelum’s 24/7 playout example describes preparing playlist configuration, running Nimble Streamer, and installing or registering the Live Transcoder package as specified: Nimble Playout 24/7 example. Before choosing this route, account for hosting and licensing requirements, playlist and schedule management, and whether input files need to be made consistent or transcoded. The documentation notes that differing file parameters can require transcoding.
| Approach | Where it runs | Prerecorded loop support documented? | Setup considerations |
|---|---|---|---|
| Larix Broadcaster | Mobile device | Not in the reviewed Larix materials | Configure a YouTube encoder connection; the documented role is live capture and encoding. |
| Nimble Streamer Playout | Server | Yes; playlist options support looped VOD playback | Requires server playlist configuration and the Live Transcoder package; consider hosting, licensing, and input-file consistency. |
Plan for YouTube’s handling of long streams
YouTube Help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That statement does not promise automatic archiving for one uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast. If keeping a recording matters, plan how you will retain the source files and verify the archive behavior for your particular stream rather than assuming a full-day broadcast will be saved as one video.
