First, decide what “multiple stream profiles” means
- Separate concurrent streams: Different playlists or broadcasts run at the same time, potentially on different YouTube channels. Look for cloud playout and separate stream slots.
- One broadcast, several destinations: The same feed is sent to multiple platforms or accounts. This is multistreaming, not separate playlist playout.
- Several streams on one YouTube channel: YouTube permits multiple active streams, subject to simultaneous limits described below. This does not mean one stream can have that many destinations.

Upstream: compare stream slots and channel assignments
Upstream’s product and help pages describe continuous cloud playlist playout, multiple stream slots, and connecting separate YouTube channels to different slots. Its help material also says a user can run up to 10 streams on one YouTube channel. That is a vendor-documented capability, not a guarantee that every current plan includes the same number of slots; check the current plan limits before choosing.
Castr: separate scheduled playout from distribution

Restream and StreamYard: destination-focused tools
Restream and StreamYard document selecting multiple destinations for a broadcast. Their cited documentation is useful for live simulcasting, but it does not establish that either service provides continuous prerecorded playlist playout. Treat connected accounts or destination counts as different from the number of independent 24/7 streams you can run.
Understand YouTube’s stream limits
YouTube Help states a maximum of 10 active streams per channel and three active streams per stream key; both limits apply at the same time. These are YouTube platform limits, not vendor plan allowances, and the Help page does not show a publication date. Check the current page before configuring a multi-stream setup.

Do not read “10 active streams per channel” as “10 destinations for one stream.” The first is about active streams on a YouTube channel; destinations describe where a service sends one broadcast. A vendor may impose its own slot or destination limit as well.

- Write down the broadcasts you need. Count distinct playlists or programs that must run at the same time. If they need different schedules or content, you need separate streams or slots—not simply more destinations for one feed.
- Map each stream to a YouTube channel. Decide whether multiple streams belong on one channel or should use separate channels. Check the service’s documented channel and slot workflow; do not assume account connections create independent playouts.
- Check the media workflow. Confirm whether the service accepts uploaded prerecorded files, live inputs, or both, and whether it supports continuous looping or scheduled changes. Upstream describes playlist-based playout; Castr describes scheduled uploaded videos, recordings, and live streams.
- Check the actual plan limits. Compare concurrent slots for separate streams, or simultaneous destinations for one broadcast. Vendor limits can vary by plan and change, so verify them with the service before paying.
- Confirm YouTube eligibility. YouTube says channels must be verified and have live streaming enabled for simulstreaming, and platform accounts must be in good standing. Content must comply with YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. Review YouTube’s simulstreaming guidance and its live-streaming requirements.
- Plan for operations. If you encode locally, YouTube advises allowing sufficient upload bandwidth and monitoring stream health. A cloud encoder can receive one high-quality live feed and distribute it onward, reducing the load on a local machine; that is distribution, not necessarily playlist playout. Common selection mistakes
- Buying a multistream plan for playlist playout: destination support does not establish that the service can loop prerecorded media continuously.
- Assuming connected channels equal concurrent slots: ask how many independent streams can be live at once and whether each slot can use its own YouTube channel.
- Confusing YouTube limits with plan limits: YouTube’s active-stream caps do not tell you how many slots a vendor includes or permits.
- Assuming “24/7” removes account or content rules: continuous streaming still has to satisfy YouTube’s eligibility and content requirements.
