Then open the gear settings above the camera image, select the microphone you intend to use, and speak while watching its sound indicator. If the indicator moves, Be.Live is receiving your voice; check YouTube playback volume and the affected viewer’s browser or device next.
First identify where the sound is missing
There are two different problems that can sound like “no audio”: Be.Live may not be capturing your microphone, or the broadcast may have audio that a viewer cannot hear during playback. Check the studio’s microphone indicator while speaking, then compare what happens for other viewers and devices.

Fix microphone audio in Be.Live
1. Make sure the camera source is not muted
In the Be.Live studio, check the camera source controls and turn off Mute. Be.Live’s setup guide describes the control this way: “Mute – disables your microphone (viewers stop hearing you)”. If it is on, viewers will not hear your microphone even if the microphone itself is working.
2. Select the right microphone and watch its indicator
- Click the gear icon above the camera image.
- Choose the microphone you actually want to use, such as the computer’s built-in mic or a connected headset microphone.
- Speak at your normal streaming distance and watch the sound indicator.
Be.Live says a moving indicator means the microphone is working. If there is no response, try another available input. Also check that the microphone is connected, powered on, and not muted using a physical switch or headset control.

3. Check browser microphone permission
If the selected input still produces no signal, make sure the browser has permission to use the microphone for Be.Live. In your browser’s site permissions, allow microphone access, then reload the studio if needed. Your operating system may also have a privacy setting that blocks microphone access to the browser; check that as well. Be.Live’s setup instructions specify using the latest Chrome or Safari on a desktop or laptop.
4. Close apps that may be using the microphone
Quit other video-call, recording, or streaming software that could be accessing the same microphone. Be.Live’s troubleshooting guidance recommends closing other software using the device. Return to the studio and speak again to see whether the indicator responds.

When the microphone indicator moves but viewers hear nothing
A moving indicator confirms that Be.Live is receiving microphone input; it does not establish that every viewer’s playback device is producing sound. First confirm that the camera source’s Mute control is off. Then make a private or unlisted test broadcast, or use an Offline Broadcast recording, and review whether the voice is present in the result.
If the test contains your voice, ask an affected viewer to check the YouTube player’s mute button and volume, the browser or device volume, and the selected audio output device. YouTube’s help guidance also recommends checking browser or device sound settings and, if needed, restarting the browser or device.

Prevent echo and feedback while testing
Be.Live notes that duplicate studio tabs or an open YouTube stream in another tab can result in audio being picked up by the microphone and create echo. Close extra studio tabs and close or mute any playback of your live stream on the host computer. Be.Live recommends headphones to help avoid echo and feedback. Headphones can help with monitoring, but they will not unmute a microphone, fix the wrong input, or turn up a muted YouTube player.
Test before going public
- In Be.Live, check the camera source’s Mute control and confirm the intended microphone is selected.
- Speak and verify that the studio indicator moves.
- Use a Private or Unlisted YouTube broadcast, or make an Offline Broadcast recording, to review the audio before a public stream.
- Listen to the result and, if possible, ask someone using another device to check playback.
Be.Live’s YouTube setup guide calls for a desktop or laptop, the latest Chrome or Safari, and a stable internet connection. A connection issue is worth investigating if you also have lag or delay, but the first checks for silent microphone audio are mute, input selection, permissions, and playback volume.

If the problem persists
Contact Be.Live support through its chat after trying the checks above. Include your browser, the microphone selected in the gear menu, whether the studio indicator moves while you speak, whether a test recording contains your voice, and whether the silence affects every viewer or only one device. These details help distinguish a capture problem from a playback problem.
