How to Stream Prerecorded Videos to YouTube 24/7 with XSplit Broadcaster

A practical XSplit setup for sending prerecorded videos to YouTube Live, with playlist guidance, scheduled-event settings, troubleshooting, and the limits of a 24-hour broadcast.

You can use XSplit Broadcaster to play prerecorded videos into a YouTube Live stream: add a video file or playlist as a source, configure the YouTube output, then start the broadcast. But XSplit does not make a local computer or internet connection failure-proof, and YouTube’s automatic archive limit means you should not expect one complete replay of a 24-hour stream. The steps below show how to set it up and what to check before leaving it running.

Before you start: make sure YouTube Live is enabled

Your YouTube channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube says first-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it ahead of your planned broadcast. Prerequisites and timing are described in YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.

Prerecorded material is still subject to YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. Confirm that you have the rights to stream the video, music, and any other included content; looping a recording does not bypass YouTube’s rules. See YouTube’s live-streaming requirements and its Terms of Service.

Build a prerecorded-video scene in XSplit

Add one video file

  1. Open XSplit Broadcaster and select Add Source > Video File.
  2. Choose the local video file and open it. XSplit’s source help lists formats including MP4, FLV, and WEBM, among others; check the current help page if your file does not load: Image, Video, and Audio Source.
  3. Right-click the video source to open its properties and review the available playback controls. Confirm the clip actually plays and that its audio is routed as intended before going live.

Play multiple videos

For a sequence of recordings, add XSplit’s Video Playlist source and configure its continuous-playback options. XSplit also lists a Media Slideshow source; choose the source suited to your material and inspect its behavior in your installed version. The documentation identifies these media sources but does not establish that a playlist will restart after every possible application, computer, or network failure. See XSplit Support for its source overview and current help.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Before relying on a long playlist, play through its beginning, a transition between files, and the end of the list. Check for missing files, gaps, unexpected ordering, and audio-level changes. A successful short preview confirms basic playback, not a guaranteed 24-hour run.

Connect XSplit to YouTube Live

  1. In YouTube Studio, create a live stream or select the scheduled stream you intend to use. YouTube’s encoder workflow provides a stream URL and stream key for sending the feed.
  2. In XSplit Broadcaster, open the Broadcast menu and create or select the YouTube Live output. Enter the requested broadcast details and connect it to the correct YouTube stream. XSplit’s instructions are in its YouTube Live guide; YouTube’s general encoder setup is described here.
  3. Treat the stream key like a password: it authorizes the encoder to send video to your channel. Do not share it or show it in a screen recording. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio before using the encoder again. YouTube explains stream keys in its encoder setup guidance.
  4. Start the broadcast from XSplit and check YouTube Studio’s preview and stream status. Confirm the public or scheduled watch page is accessible and that both video and audio are present.

If you are using a scheduled event

XSplit’s scheduled-event guide describes selecting the event under Broadcast Details. With Manual Transition checked, the guide says you must also click Go Live in YouTube Studio after starting the XSplit broadcast. When it is unchecked, starting the XSplit broadcast starts the YouTube stream automatically. The guide describes Manual Transition as the default, but interface labels and defaults can change; confirm the current setting before the event. See XSplit’s YouTube Live guide.

Test the stream and plan for interruptions

Preview the stream before treating it as live programming. Check the picture, sound, watch page, and YouTube Studio status, and use a reliable internet connection. YouTube warns that a connectivity disruption can break a stream; a local encoder does not keep broadcasting if its computer loses power or internet access. Its streaming tips recommend testing and monitoring. For scheduled events, YouTube advises starting the encoder 15 minutes ahead; that is event-preparation guidance, not an uptime guarantee.

  • Verify the whole playback chain: confirm the selected source is visible, the intended playlist is advancing, and audio reaches YouTube.
  • Keep the computer and connection available: XSplit is running locally, so closing the application, shutting down the PC, or losing connectivity can interrupt delivery.
  • Monitor YouTube Studio: watch for a missing signal or other stream-status warning. A successful initial preview cannot establish that the connection will remain uninterrupted.
  • Check the recording separately: do not assume a 24-hour broadcast will become one complete automatic replay.

Understand YouTube’s archive limit

YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That guidance does not establish that a single 24-hour broadcast will be saved as one complete replay. If you need an archive, check the result in YouTube Studio and plan the broadcast and replay approach around YouTube’s current behavior. See YouTube’s live-stream archiving guidance.

Troubleshooting common XSplit-to-YouTube problems

What you see Likely cause What to check
YouTube does not show a live signal The XSplit output may not be started, or it may be connected to a different stream or key. Confirm the selected YouTube output and event in XSplit, check the stream key in YouTube Studio, and inspect YouTube’s preview and status.
XSplit sends video, but YouTube is not live A scheduled event may still be waiting for a manual transition. Check the event’s Manual Transition setting and, if enabled, select Go Live in YouTube Studio.
The video source is blank or does not play The file may not load in the installed version, or the source may not be playing. Reopen the file through Add Source > Video File, inspect the source properties and playback controls, and test a supported file format.
A playlist stops or plays the wrong material The playlist configuration or file order may not match the intended sequence. Review the playlist entries and continuous-playback options, then observe a transition and the end of the list before the long broadcast.
The stream drops during playback The computer, XSplit, or network connection may have stopped delivering the feed. Check the PC and internet connection, then verify the signal in YouTube Studio before restarting. The reviewed XSplit guidance does not promise automatic recovery for every failure.
The broadcast is live but no complete 24-hour replay appears YouTube’s stated automatic-archive guidance covers streams under 12 hours, not a guaranteed single 24-hour replay. Inspect the recording in YouTube Studio and use a broadcast plan that does not depend on one automatic 24-hour archive.
