You can schedule or start a Premiere for an uploaded video without buying YouTube Premium; Premium is a separate paid membership, not a stated requirement for creating or watching a Premiere.
Does YouTube charge to create or schedule a Premiere?
YouTube’s Premiere setup guide does not list a separate charge for using the feature. It describes creating a Premiere in YouTube Studio as a way to release a new video at a chosen time and watch it together with viewers. That answers the feature-fee question, not every possible cost of producing a video or using other services.
You can set a Premiere to start after the video has finished processing or schedule it for later. YouTube’s setup guidance does not require specific recording hardware.
Is YouTube Premiere the same as YouTube Premium?
| Feature | YouTube Premiere | YouTube Premium |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A scheduled or immediate release of an uploaded video, with a shared viewing experience. | A paid YouTube membership with membership benefits, described on YouTube’s Premium support page. |
| Does the Premiere setup guide list a separate charge? | No separate Premiere fee is listed in YouTube’s setup guidance. | It is a separate paid membership. |
| Is it required to create or watch a Premiere? | The setup instructions do not state that Premium is required. | No requirement is stated in the Premiere setup instructions. |
In short, “Premiere” refers to how a video is released; “Premium” refers to a membership. The Premiere instructions do not say that buying Premium unlocks Premieres.

What happens during and after a Premiere?
YouTube creates a public watch page before the scheduled start. The creator can share that page, and viewers can set a reminder, comment, or chat. Viewers can watch on a computer, iPhone, iPad, Android device, or mobile web, according to YouTube’s setup guide.
When the Premiere ends, the video remains on the channel as a regular upload. Chat replay is available, and the Premiere’s view count transfers to the video.

Are ads and paid chat features part of the Premiere price?
No. YouTube presents these as optional, eligibility-dependent monetization features—not fees for setting up a Premiere. According to its Premiere customization guidance:
- Eligible channels can enable pre-roll ads during a Premiere. Mid-roll and post-roll ads are unavailable during it.
- Super Chat and Super Stickers can be enabled for viewers before and during the Premiere.
- Eligible creators may offer membership perks such as members-only chat.
Those features may involve payments from viewers or revenue for creators, but they are separate from a charge to create the Premiere.

When is a Premiere different from an always-on YouTube stream?
A Premiere is for releasing a particular uploaded video at a set time, with a shared watch page and live chat. It is not the same as keeping a channel continuously live. If your goal is an always-on YouTube stream that loops uploaded videos, StreamNeo is a separate cloud service: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It does not create a YouTube Premiere, and it streams to YouTube only.
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo keeps the stream running without a computer or home connection staying on. Uploaded video streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot regardless of quality; it can recover automatically if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. For a continuous YouTube stream rather than a scheduled Premiere, start with StreamNeo’s free day.
